Hi :)

I post over in the sexuality forum a lot but I don't think this belongs over there.. My bf and I have some strange interests but it got us on the subject of violence in media, I ended up making a survey to see what people thought or were interested on the subject?

Feel free to answer honestly or deviously, it's the internet lol ;-)

Let me know your thoughts!

Cinema, neither.

I am sure the mass media are filled with violence. I choose not to expose myself to such any more. I have seen enough.

Your questions are just six shades of wrong. Just really bad to the point of I don't know if you were actually trying to gather information or if you were just screwing around bored.

Your poll is flawed. Although you corrected the first question using question number two by leaving question one in place nullifies all participants answers. The same applies for the question about violence in games. You lacked an answer for those who do not play video games. I ended up wasting my time answering your poll because of these two questions did not have the right option for me.

That was a fucking retarded questionnaire. I can't believe I actually participated.

Those were dumb questions. Your OP should have said it was biased towards women and violence in media. Also, the video game question didn't have an option for non gamers.

To be honest and Im sorry if this hurts your feelings but the survey was a bit odd. In the sense that it seemed to have been created in a rush and needed some fine tuning before it was created and posted here

I think you will find that you might get better more accurate results if you create another survey and then re submit it here to hopefully get people to take the survey :)

I don't have answers for some of the poll, so it won't record my scores.
If you are going to have an "answers required" poll you need a NA option on all questions.

For the record, I think all gratuitous violence to be left only to James Bond movies.
Also, I would like the stoppage of showing violence toward women or anyone as an acceptable action in a game or movie, esp. rape scenes.

Hi slayergirl,
I personally liked the idea behind your survey :) .

Just one minor criticism:
You started and ended with the assumptions that both genders are into videogames, and that everyone watched Jurassic World. Not everyone did.

N.B.
Come to think of it: kind of strange that I'm so repulsed by most movies that show violence against women. When in fact I do enjoy the occasional violent military sci-fi movie where female heroins do just the same .

Did I step into bizarro world? Where the GB is a kinder and gentler place?

If you're also referring to my post Haha no. :)

But I genuinely liked the idea behind the survey.
Among other things, because it reminded me of the new trend in movies directed at younger audiences (dystopian and action movies where female heroines kick male asshole butt). That made me smile.

Sorry for the issues guys, and thank you for the feedback. This was the first one I've made and obviously I should be more considerate when making these, I really do appreciate all of you who participated (even in light of it's shortcomings). And I must say some of the answers are quite interesting.

Anyway, I'll try and make a better one and post it around. Thanks again :)

Thanks for the nice feedback, and yes I realize I left out some options that alienate people's answers.

Funny you should mention this, because that's how the conversation between My bf and I started. I was saying how I like the kick ass Heroin thing in movies and tv and My bf mentioned he really dislikes it when he sees Women being hurt or even killed in media. Which made Me think (thank god he's not a psycho! jk lol) that I strongly feel the same way, but I don't really mind at all when men are put in situations of peril or violence. Especially if it's a bad ass Girl who's killing men ;-P

I really love men, but I guess I just realized this when We were talking and it made me want to make a survey some time later

By your use of the word media, are you misusing it or conflating the press (the media) with movies and games?

There is no death that is too extreme for a star wars character.

Prequels anyway. Nothing too painful or humiliating for Jar Jar.
I'll also give you Ewoks and maybe Kylo Ren but I'm giving him until the next movie to get his shit together.

I'm not even taking it.

Real life violence should be put on the news every day.

If you want to see whats going on in the world you should take 5 min and watch some real violence go down.

If everyone had to watch some real shit instead of hiding it behind clean news and hyped up Hollywood buushit we might not be such a violence happy society as I'm 99.9999% positive doing so would dramatically alter Americas love of violence.

I'm not sure he's right though given violence gets censored more heavily in Europe than the US and aside from brawls they are over all less violent than us.

Hey, how come BoBo gets a cheerleader?
I want one, but I want mine to be smart and a girl.

Word.

BTW
I gather that slayergirl is younger than the typical GB poster.
Millenials are a cool generation imo; besides some of their cool quirks: their taste in videogames and certain movies,
they're more open-minded and authentic, and not as jaded as us "oldies". Must be the internet that breaks all barriers.

Is this a board for older people?? I get the feeling more people here are older and married, but yes, I am still in My twenties and in a relationship :)

Yeah, Millennials don't get enough credit imo. Some millennials hate themselves and people are sick of the selfie/facebook/tumblr generation, but I'm actually kind of proud of this generation. I think many good things will come out when millennials are in positions of power. They are idealistic and can think in big picture due to the Internet. But it's also the geeks in the 40s and 50s who have laid down the groundwork for the millennials generation.
