Spring time is here; get your lazy asses out and do some hiking...

I'm going hiking/camping mid April. I've started breaking in the new hiking shoes. :)

Hiking?

Back in the day we called it, "Going for a walk"

"Wetlands" were called swamps back then too.

Den

The Northwestern-Most Point in the Contiguous U.S.

Since we are nearer the Southeast Most Point this is gonna be a long walk.
Would have loved to have gone there.
This is why we tell our kids who are always going to other countries...there's so much to see right in the USA.

I hates me some new hiking boots! I've had mine for about 15 years. they're comfortable as all get out, but the tread is worn off and the stitching's going to hell.
I DO NOT want to break in a new pair! I'm old and grumpy and I hates blisters and stuff, but I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just do it.....or sit on my ass and get fatter then I am. I think I'll opt for the blisters.

The last "walk" I took was last summer. A short 7 1/2 mile jaunt with 1200' elevation lost and 2400' elevation gain. All in all a nice little stroll.

It all depends on where you are as far as swamp verses wetlands. A few miles from here it rains 16' (yes feet) a year so wetlands is an appropriate moniker.

You just need proper footware.

Hell yes! I've seen more then a few who don't even think about foot wear. Hiking boots, snow shoes, crampons, cross country skis..... the right equipment makes all the difference.

The PCT runs through my neck of the woods. We have done a number of day hikes along it. It's just a short drive to the Sierras as well. Love exploring on foot!

You also need mountains you flatland pussy fuckers.

I miss the mountains so much, the Blue Mountains and the Cascades. It's been years since I was there but I will NEVER forget what it was like. I love my home in Ohio but Washington State is in my heart.

I'm going hiking in Sedona, AZ in two weeks. Can't.Wait.

And, I have the Patagucci to prove it.

You shouldn't need much unless you're out after dark or really early in the morning. I was there two years ago about this time.

Cool mornings, hot days...right?

I'll pack layers and carry-on. I never check bags. Never.

I
hate
hiking.

When you grow up in the woods, "hiking" is going to get the mail, taking out the garbage, or taking the vermin in the house (mice, squirrels) to someplace safe.

It is work. No thanks. :D

N'yuck N'yuck.

I lied. I pretty much take my computer wherever I go so that I can do business, if required. I don't like banging out long emails on the phone. So, I do carry that bitch on with me. I don't like having to deal with a bag as well.
