How to edit/rewrite previously published stories

It's a few years now since I started writing stories on here and I'd like to edit some that have been published and even do total rewrites on one or two. Is there a general guide how to go about it, and what happens to the voting, likes and so on. Do they get reset? TIA

Most stories get a lot of viewers in the first week, then slow down drastically. If your stories have been up for a while then editing may not achieve much, since most of the people who are going to read your story will have already done so before your edit. Of course, if you're somebody like me who gets annoyed by flaws in your story regardless of whether anybody sees them, go ahead and correct it.

The alternative is to delete your story (which will wipe EVERYTHING) and then resubmit it. If you do this, I suggest including a note mentioning that this is a repost; otherwise readers who remember the old story may think you've stolen it. I'd only recommend doing this if you're really unhappy with the original and think the edit will do significantly better.

Thanks Bramblethorn. 99% of the time I'm OK posting stories but still hopeless at trying to find out how do something I haven't done before.
