My car no longer has rear bumper. Or trunk. Or back doors that opens.

Suprisingly enough I'm without a scratch. Didn't expect that from being rammed from behind at 35 mph. {Insert butt sex joke here} I guess even shitty compacts have decent crash zones these days.

What shitty compact were you driving?

Always good to walk away; kudos!

Btw...The pain may be delayed by a day or two once your adrenaline levels return to normal.

Pick-up trucks with reinforced hitch areas on the rear bumper have no crumple zone. Everything is transferred straight to the frame immediately.

I got rear-ended at low speed by a cargo van last Columbus Day.

I'm just recently at a new, slightly more painful, equilibrium.

Glad to hear you're okay.

What sorrt of car do you have that you're able to escape with minimal damage?

Just a question, did you see it about to happen or did you get hit out of the blue?

I only ask because about 6 years ago I was at the tail end of a line of cars and out of habit I kept checking my rear view mirror. I saw a car way back down the road (roughly a mile) and flashed my brake lights.

The traffic still wasn't moving and as I looked back, I judged the car hadn't changed speed so I again flashed by brake lights. Rinse and repeat two more times.

After the last time I knew the person wasn't going to stop. I had about five seconds to make sure my feet were firmly on the clutch and brake, crossed my hands across my chest, settled into the seat, relaxed as much as I could and closed my eyes.

Needless to say I was not a happy camper.

Wow, I witnessed one of those from one lane over last summer.

Glad you're okay.

Are you sure your neck doesn't hurt? ;) ;)

Just a little bit?

I'm almost sure your neck hurts ( hint, hint ).

Sorry for your bad fortune, but I'm glad you are okay. :rose:

I was rear-ended last year. I was not moving and the other car was going maybe 5 mph. The other driver said that my car was so cute that she was just trying to get a closer look.

Agreed. Your neck hurts. A lot.

Yeah I know. I had nice people wiräth stetoscopes and stuff probe to check that I was, as far as they could tell, fine.

Car is (was?) a Citroen C1. Best shitty city car I ever had.

Completely out of the blue. My attention was sideways, checking for lane change. Wouldn't have had more than a second or three of warning anyway since it was rush hour traffic flow.

Often, soft tissue injuries and back injuries don't present themselves for a day or few afterwards.

Standard advice is get checked over by your family doctor within a few days, and if there is evidence of any loss of motion or pain to get a referral for tests...make daily notes of how you feel as well.

Neat car!

At least it wasn't a Ford Pinto or a Jeep Liberty!

Sounds like your compact is now a sub-compact. Glad your okay. As noted, it may take a few days for your neck to exhibit whiplash. Hopefully the citroen had decent head restraints.

I'm also glad you weren't hurt. Hopefully insurance will be swift and in your favor so you can get some new wheels quickly.

A friend recently got hit from behind at 60km/hr.
She was taken to hospital for a checkup and felt completely fine and was sent home.
Fast forward a week, and now she's in a neck brace and off work for at least 12 weeks.
Seems soft-tissue injuries can take some time to develop.

Hope you really are ok tho :)

Oh - and I had a little Citroen C4 for a while.
Total lemon
Got rid of it quicksmart!

Sometimes broken bones don't show up in the immediate xrays either.
