Me on coyotes

Lots of coyotes all over SW Ontario. Big ones, cross bred with eastern wolves. Bigger than western prairie ones. No stray dogs and cats in most neighbourhoods that back onto Thames River as it winds through town.

Nearest fire station sets them off yipping. They hunt rodents in a big grassy field just 100' away from clubhouse. Sounds like a dozen or so. Deer all seem healthy in town but turkeys have gone within town limits. Country turkeys seem smart enough to avoid coyotes.

Get out of the ESA woods in south part of town after dusk. Just to be safe.

Small dog on a leash in the woods after dark is called coyote bait and attractant.

NEVER RUN. Prey runs!

I cannot fathom why anyone would walk their dog after dog in any area known to be a coyote hangout

Couple of droll fellas you all are. Is there no sympathy for the non-readers out there who don't know they can upgrade without all that drama?

How do you know? They may just be non-conformists.

Speaking of drama. *snicker*

don't snicker, she might be a flight attendant

There I was, under my favorite blanket, all warm and cozy, safe in the arms of Morpheus in my peaceful sleep. Then, it happened. Somewhere, out of the distant ancestry of my pitty mix, the Hound of the Baskerville awoke. In that instant she let out an almost blood curdling bay/bray/howl/bark, that had me awake in an instant and on my feet, heart pounding as I tried to wake up mid stride to see what the hell just happened . Outside my bedroom window I heard the source that woke the Hound, it was the freakish yipping of coyotes. Right. Outside. My Bedroom. In my front yard no less!

The dogs were stirred up the rest of the night. I never truly found sweet Morpheus again. And this, dear friends, is why I hate those brazen freaks of the canine world otherwise known as coyotes.

The feral dog packs keep them under control here...

The dog packs, now they are another problem all together.
