Yayyyyy!!! 53 years young and still kicking. (Pay extra at the door if you want me to wear the 'special' boots <snerk>.)

I have worked hard this week and I'm going to take the day off today, play in here and do some other fun stuff around my own lovely little home (stroke my pussy, handiwork ;)). Later I will pick up Piglet from school and go down to the health club I joined; if we can get in before 4 pm we can have a swim before going for a cocktail/mocktail and dinner at the totally expensive exclusive restaurant next door - with 15% off on my health club card!

(Not off the cocktails unfortunately. When I asked they said the 15% off was supposed to be for 'healthy' things, gah. I mean, some of those cocktails have egg white in and all sorts - I'm sure they are very good for me really, LOL.)

Dang, what happened when I was 53? [/me searches dusty archives] Oh yeah, we took the prior 25-foot housecar, The Box, on a several-month drive around SouthWest USA.

We came upon a quaint desert mountain mining town and artists' colony on the Mexican border, fell in love with Bisbee, bought an historic adobe, and settled in. It was one of those places where a walk to the post office might take five minutes or three hours depending on whom we pause to talk with. And someone may stop us in the street to share their hash pipe or bottle of tequila.

My sister near Los Angeles (who turned 63 today) had sent us enticing calendars with hand-sketches of such quaint Arizona towns. One month after we bought the border place she quit her job, sold her place, found a new job and home near Tucson (a bit over an hour from Bisbee), and moved her family, lickety-split. Poof, we had kin in the vicinity. Our other sister moved nearby from New York a few years later.

Age 53. Yes, that was a strange year, a year of expanding horizons amid international turmoil and domestic insanity. Like now. I don't remember the birthday party. Probably a quiet event at the St George Hotel down in Volcano, California, a historic Gold Rush town with a Civil War cannon and a Superman phone booth. I don't think I ran naked down Union Street.

I promise not to run naked down Cardiff's Queen Street. With Piglet in tow, my birthday may not be as bibulous as I might wish, still I am already having fun here poking about - in my garden, my garden!

Happy birthdays, you and my senior sibling unit (sister), 10 years apart. She drives a Mini-Cooper named Ian and dangles dried kangaroo testicles on her key ring. Her husband looks like a ZZ Top guitarist and rides a unicycle, learned as he grew up in the Panamanian jungle. I think they got rid of their Gila monster.

I've just nipped in here quickly on my mobile while piglet wages warfare on her iPad. We're drinking a peach fizz and a Bellini whiling away an hour before we go and dine. We had a hilarious lovely swim and made surreptitious farting jokes in the Jacuzzi lol
