I have to agree with this, I've only heard him speak a few times but the first was about his grandfather on a porch and it sounded so phony. There was no warmth in his voice (pod person).

Good thing being President isn't based on anything as shallow as being popular or capable.

Yeah. I don't really require my president to be likable. Just more competent than most of the crowd going for the office this time. Maybe more will come out of the woodwork when these are finished shooting themselves in the feet (or as someone here would say--"hoiting" themselves on their own petards. ).

I love how folks spin wheels to prognostic the final result even before the first primary. I guess they have energy to burn and time to waste. I don't know who the hell will be able to beat anyone else when the battle dust settles down in ten months. Might be someone not even front loading a candidacy. Yeah, I get sucked into too when my usual areas of the board are quiet. I think a big difference, though, is that I can laugh about it when there are so many pin heads here taking it seriously without an ounce of sense or world view, running on the dregs of silly fear and raw hate.

Sen Cruz is reportedly despised by all his Senate colleagues. Sen Clinton and Sen Obama seemed to escape such pervasive hatred. A President must work with the Senate and House to pass ANY legislation. If all Pres Cruz's favorite bills are stomped 90-10 in the Senate, he won't be a very effective President. Piss on a platter, really.

I am blessed. I do not watch TV and I hardly listen to news radio. I don't think I have ever heard Sen Cruz's voice nor watched him talk. I think I've spared myself unbearable torture.

It would be sort of ironic to see a Republican Congress not work with a Republican/Tea Party president any better than it did with a Democratic one. You'd think the voters would finally get the message on that, but probably not.

I would take exception to your time reference. I know there was a time women were little more than chattel, but that ended long before the 60's. I grew up in the 1950's, and this is from my personal observation.

The last election was closer than people thought, no one expected Romney to get that much support.

And as always what cost them was the female vote-maybe they are not aware the 'little womens' get to vote these days?- That was the election that brought us such gems as rape babies are gifts from god and there is such a thing as legitimate rape.

When republicans say 'the country lacks family values' what they mean is the woman belongs home cooking and cleaning and raising kids.

And of course they are desperate to make abortion illegal again.

All in all they eliminate a lot of women voters and those votes count as much as the almighty male votes.

The only women who support them are bible thumping hate mongers and most people have no tolerance for them either.

Trump has already offended every woman in the country which pretty much will cost him the election as well.

In a few weeks time the circus of thefirst two primaries will be forgotten. Sanders and Trump are favourites to win the NH one and if they do there will be much absurd speculation on their behalf. But when the big states come into play the gravity will likely move towards establishment figures. I fancy Rubio and Clinton at this point but either could trip up.

Final candidates will prolly only be settled in April. If somehow, Hillary is nobbled, Sanders won't get the nomination. The Democrats will not back a loser and Sanders is a loser. They will draft a new player if they have to.
