Wow, I didn't know he was fighting cancer.
A jarring note. Mebbe there's something missing from my make up. Bowie was ok and produced a few good things and a fair bit of dross - which is not a bad result for an artist. 69, not a great age but not too bad either. But mostly I don't feel the sense of personal loss, expressed with some decorum here ( and none at all on the GB )
Freddie Mercury and John Lennon died too young with much left in the tank but most celebrities don't warrant the outpouring of ( confected?) grief.
I would be prepared to argue that if Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse for examples had died a few years earlier, it would have improved the memory of them.
