If it weren't for whites, the civil rights movement wouldn't have happened. Blacks were only little over 10% of the population in the 50s and 60s and other races were negligible.

Blacks helped and provided inspiration, but ultimately whites created and passed the legislation.

Once again, white Americans led the way in furthering freedom and justice.

They are a basically good people who deserve a "thank you" from other groups, not hatred and name calling.

The Democratic party has always been the slave party. Martin L. King was a Republican who knew where the problem was in the violation of the Constitution and Civil Rights. The three leaders who did the most for civil rights were actually two Democrats (moderates or what would of been called liberals when the word liberal meant something) and a Republican. President Truman, President Eisenhower and Mrs. F. Roosevelt. (It was she who forced Pre. Kennedy to take up the call for civil rights.) But it was the Democratic party that fought against civil rights, not only for African Americans, but for all others that didn't conform to their own beliefs. Mrs. Roosevelt and Pres. Truman were not welcomed by the Democratic Party. They were too honest. Pres. Eisenhower was really the first president who said enough was enough. It is funny how the African Americans of this generation have forgotten how hard their ancestors fought for their freedom and who it was who was the main enemy of civil rights. Now they act as if they wear the black robes of the KKK and forget all the teaching of Rev. Martin King and others.

I'm pretty sure it's been republicans fighting equal treatment under the law for the last couple decades for all they are worth.
