Ziggy is now stardust

This is some shitty news right before bed time. I did not know he was sick.

I met Bowie (as in saying hello and blushing) in Sunderland -87. Friends of mine were signed to the same label and opened a couple of his shows, Sunderland being one.
Another friend of mine played with him here.
I'm so sad about this.

I turn my back for one minute and David Bowie is dead....Ok 2016, it's not funny anymore....

"I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human"

Now you are....

So, now I'm awake and Bowie is still dead.

I think everyone should discover Bowie as a child and my daughter is lucky, because we have the complete discography now. For her.
And it's okay to like Bowie for someone born in the 60s, 70s, 80s...or, as in her case, in 2010.
You don't have to have seen "this" tour or "that" - he can still speak to you. Will still speak to you.
I don't usually cry for people I don't know, but I'm smiling through the tears as I play my favorite album, Alladin Sane, to my daughter. Oh to be in her shoes, to have do much thought provoking and great music coming her way.

I saw the archive when it was on tour in Melbourne twice in the last 4 months.

A friend and I were just discussing his new album. Some of the lyrics, already haunting, now take on a new deeper meaning.

Just came across this: "Long-time friend and producer Tony Visconti said he turned his death into a work of art, describing his new album "Blackstar," released a few days ago, as "his parting gift.""

Yeah. :(

If you're gonna go I guess it's nice to leave something meaningful behind.

Better title than the other thread...

If the other thread had been there at the time, I would have posted in it. The name is just fine - it's the subject of both threads that sucks...:(

If you already feel that life is passing you by, don't look up what David Bowie did when he was your age. :(

It took forever to load - unsurprisingly with the traffic it must have - but it told me that by my age roughly, he released "Let's Dance".

I have some catching up to do.

Creating amazing moments for your little girl right there. :)

Just so so sad over this. Truly one of the most innovative musicians of all time and was lucky to be surrounded by so many great musicians and hopefully he and Mick are rocking out together right now. I just feel so lucky to have seen him in 95, even if it was during the period in which it wasn't my favorite material of his he was playing.

If you're ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie.

That's the thing - there are some of his incarnations that I like better than others, but man, the creativity...

Gone to his new home among the heroes and the fae. Returned to us every time the record spins around.

This a a huge artistic loss. I'm glad I saw him, I'm glad I know his music.
