From the likes of Donald Trump (no surprise) and even from Trump's polar opposite in the Republican Party, John McCain:

For the record, Cruz was born in Alberta, to a mother who was an American citizen. Cruz didn't get around to renouncing his Canadian citizenship till fairly recently, but I don't dispute that he was an American citizen at birth and thus is eligible to run for President.

Of course, I haven't also spent the last eight years making the exact opposite argument about the current President. So why do so few on the conservative side seem to disagree with me?

Trump and McCain have their reasons to be pulling this stunt (one is running against Cruz right now, and the other one can't stand him), but why isn't Cruz's birthplace a bigger deal among Republican voters, the majority of whom still falsely believe Obama was born outside the United States? Why has Steve King, probably the most prominent Obama birther in the House, endorsed someone who everyone admits was born in another country?

If I were a more cynical man, I'd almost wonder if the birther charges against Obama were a proxy for something else, something that can't be admitted openly for whatever reason. Can it possibly be true?

That best thing was McCain stating he was not a constitutional scholar.

There's a long list of things he's not a scholar about. Except Munich 1938. I will concede he's an expert on that; he brings it up often enough.

I did like the WH press secretary making a rare personal comment, saying that he admitted he was enjoying seeing Republicans fighting among themselves about this silly issue.

It's also fitting that Trump has now gone after Cruz on separate "He's a foreigner!" fronts (where he was born, and where his father was born). For someone who touts his unpredictability, his attacks on nonwhite and non-Anglo opponents always come down to race and ethnicity first and foremost.

There's no such thing as "birther treatment" there are legitimate Constitutional concerns.

Its ridiculous liberals and Obama apologists are still mad or hurt or whatever it was that upset them so much when people simply wanted Obama to verify his eligibility. Nobody was attacking Obama personally or doing anything other than wanting to ensure the Constitution was followed. Obama created the problem because of his characteristic arrogance. If he would have simply shown the public his birth certificate when the questions arose there wouldn't have been a movement to make him show it. He totally created the problem for himself.

Cruz is working with the public to get this resolved, isn't "offended" by the issue and will let it play out in the courts if necessary.

I don't hear diddly squat about "race and ethnicity" in questioning whether someone is a foreigner or natural born citizen as defined by the Constitution. Where is "race and ethnicity" in that?

Ted Cruz is an idiot asshole who should be scheduled for a retroactive abortion.

Obama did release his birth certificate when the questions arose. Those who doubted its authenticity afterwards were duly ignored.

He and his father are Xians, men trying to profit from preaching.

Calgary Ted needs to come clean about his finances as well.

You keep him please. We don't want him back.

You can have Justin Bieber though.

Best thing I heard on this is from Rand Paul when he referred to Cruz as "a natural born Canadian".
