Pompeii is/was an education. I visited it as part of a private event in 1960. We had Pompeii to ourselves, except for English-speaking guides, for three hours.
We saw all the erotic art, including some in store rooms not usually shown to the public. I wasn't of Lit age, but since I stood over six feet tall no one queried my right to see the adult stuff.
We were told that one of the plaster casts of the body voids had been of a couple doing 69 as they died but some **** civic leader in the mid 19th Century insisted that it should be destroyed.
