Friends, can someone save me a lot of time I don't have and let me know how to create a link to my story from a post on this board? Please be gentle, I'm a bit slow on the technology uptake and I consider a small miracle that I have actually managed to submit a story. Thanks.:)

Ok, lets assume you want that link to be part of your sig. No biggie. Here's a really simple way of doing it....

Step 1. Open up TWO browser windows. Point one to your story. It should have the URL of the story in your address bar on the browser. If you don't have a visible address bar on your browser, look up how to activate it in your browser help file.

Step 2. Point the other browser to your LIT control panel and cut and paste into the sig section the following;

<a href="REPLACE THIS">Read and Rate my Story!</a>

Step 3. Switch back to the browser with your story and highlight the contents of the address window.

Step 4. With the address bar contents highlighted, hold down your CONTROL key and press the "C" key. That will copy the contents of the highlighted text, in this case the url of your story, into the clipboard. The clipboard is a temporary memory location used by windows.

Step 5. Switch back to browser with your control panel and use your mouse to highlight the text "REPLACE THIS". Once this text is highlighted, press the SHIFT KEY and hold it down, then press your INSert key. That will replace the text with the url of your story.

Step 6. Save your changes and you're good to go. :)

Bobmi357 you are a gracious and gifted writer of instruction and I thank you. This of course makes my embarrassment all the worse.
I have momentary blindness caused by computer generated anxiety and for the life of me cannot find the "sig section" mentioned in Step 2. (wince) Can you let me know where on the Lit control panel I can find this section? I bet you didn't think you'd need to be that explicit did you? Thanks again, I'm going to persist with this as today's challenge.

LOL!,
Ok go to the control panel.
Then along the top menu bar you will see something that says "Edit Profile", click that.

The SIG is short for Signature. Basically its a block of text which will be placed at the bottom of every message you post. Just like what you see under everyone of my messages.

The sig can take regular text, or HTML commands, which is what I gave you in my first reply. You need an html command to make a link within your sig.

Hope this helps. :nana:

:D

Bobmi357 Thanks for the lubrication! To make my humiliation complete I now admit and publically confess that I've been looking on the wrong control panel i.e the story submission control panel. Heck no wonder I couldn't see the signature section! Think I'll just skulk off to somewhere quiet and pretend that never happened... Anyway fingers crossed,I consider this a learning experience, hope it works. ;) Hpope you don't think I'm taking liberties sending a kiss, I really appreciate your help.

Thanks for the words Bobmi, I am just posting this to test my efforts in following your instructions.

last attempt

What you need is to start with (url= then the url of the story followed by )type name of story(/url) but replace the round brackets with square ones.

<a href=https://www.literotica.com/s/a-game-gamble>Read and Rate my Story!</a>

HTML tags are not allowed in your sig or in any post on Lit.

You have to use VB tags...

My Stuff at Lit

Now just copy the line of code into your sig replacing my UID number with your UID number.

That would explain a few things actually. I've attempted to put italics in my posts and was quite confounded when they didn't work. I assumed I used html when I created my Stories link 5 years ago.

Cheers :)

If you don't see this when editing text on the forums...

attachment.php

Then you need to go to you User CP and click on Edit Options, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select...

attachment.php

Now you will be able to add Italics, Bold, Underline and a whole lot more to your posts and sig line.

For other VB tags, scroll down to the bottom of the page while in the editor and click on the VB Code link.
