Is The Draft Coming Back?

During times of war I can see the need for a draft. Who wants to serve when there is not merely a chance that you will see action but it is guaranteed.

Combat arms.....they wake up every day hoping for the chance to score an E-Tool kill. If not their leadership has failed them horribly.

I just wanted to point out that draftees often killed their superiors in 'Nam. It was called Fragging.

Men have a way of getting revenge upon the State for turning them into expendable objects. Oh yeah, and America lost that war, too.

The days of men grudgingly accepting conscription or getting beaten down for opposing it is long past. Do it again and we'll gladly spill your blood and cost you a fucking war, too. Next time maybe it'll cost you a nation. Or the world.

Men have a habit of turning the world upside-down when you fuck with them too much. Enjoy.

Fragging wasn't limited to just the Vietnam War, there were fragging instances in WW1,WW2 and Korea. And it wasn't as often as you seem to think. In the Vietnam War there were 551 confirmed cases of fragging attempts recorded leading to 86 deaths and 710 injuries. More often a grenade with the pin still in it was left on the victims bunk as a warning.

That was 551 cases that they knew of.

The Vietnam War was where fragging became most common, and when the term was coined. And draftees made up a majority of cases. Going by that level of uptick, the future bodes really ill for American military forces that put weapons in draftees' hands.

Fragging didn't become a problem until after the government announced that it would begin pulling the troops out of Vietnam. No soldier nor Marine wanted to be the last to die in a war that the U.S. was abandoning. Why go out on a dangerous patrol when in a few months your unit was to be pulled out? So many times a patrol would just go out a few hundred yards beyond the wire and hunker down, sending back false sit-reps(situation reports) until it was time to come back it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh now this is glorious fucking payback, writ large.

Women Will Likely Have to Register for the Draft, Army Secretary Says

Women will eventually have to register for the draft if "true and pure equality" is to be realized in the U.S. military, Army Secretary John McHugh said Monday.

"If your objective is true and pure equality then you have to look at all aspects" of the roles of women in the military, McHugh said, and registration for the draft "will be one of those things. That will have to be considered."

McHugh said draft registration was not a subject to be decided by the services or the Department of Defense, and will ultimately have to be dealt with by Congress. He expected a "pretty emotional debate and discussion."

However, as more military occupational specialties are opened to women, the debate on Selective Service System registration was inevitable, McHugh said. "If we find ourselves as a military writ large where men and women have equal opportunity, as I believe we should," he said.
Women of America, you shamed men who oppose the draft and selective service.

Now you're lying on the tracks with us. Can you hear that karma train horn blaring in the distance?

People are still worried about something that hasn't been used for over 40 years?

Barring another global conflict you don't have to worry about any sort of draft. But if there's a global conflict involving Americans you shouldn't need to be drafted anyway. Real Americans volunteer to protect their country.

You either have to shut the door, or shut the window, choose wisely.

There might be some merit in National Service. Mandatory 2-3 years in. Never leave the country. Engineer labour battalions. Give many a start on a trade education. Need trades, everyone wants to be doctors. Government infrastructure repair and upkeep. Take a big chunk out of youth unemployment. Give the whole country eventually basic weapons training. 4months basic, 8 months schooling, 1-2 years service. Give youth some direction and discipline.

I have always been a fan of this but there are also complications. In a country where it has been that way for a long time people are used to it and accept it. It's part of life. Hard to sell when it's something new. You'd really need a very large percentage of the population behind it.

It would be a paying job. Start with attracting the unemployed or welfare recipients. Illegals maybe. Citizenship requires service. Stop there if you want. Many might find it a good step out of high school before college. Probably have to go slow and see how it works.

Eventually though NO DEFERRMENTS. Even those going regular army. National guards would have access to some ready trained personnel for state disaster relief.

I might be a LIBZ but I will always recommend the military (in Canada) as a career option. You can be out by the time your 22 with a trade and valuable job and life experiences. I support the Royal Canadian Cadet corps too.

Why have the prison industrial complex when you can have this instead?

Just so nobody forgets all the cowardly women in this thread who never served a day in their lives but who felt it necessary to become White Feather feminists.

Your day is coming, ladies. The draft will soon come for YOU.

Are men who never served a day in their lives also cowardly

The draft isn't coming back but if you join now it will make you a better person and chances are you won't whine about a non-existent draft on a message board.

I protest the draft just to piss off people like you. The more you tell me not to, the louder I'll get.

If the draft comes back neither you nor Queersetti will have to go - they only go after men so far.

For now.

I figured that being a 60 year old heart attack survivor might be enough to get me out.
