Demographics of USA.

I was wondering about the ages of prospective readers of my smut. SO I Googled it and found a 2010 census report on age and sex demographics for the US.
Age and Sex Composition: 2010

The District of Columbia has the lowest sex ratio (M/F) in the nation, so no wonder it is the blow-job Capitol of the Nation.;)

A breakdown by counties was interesting.
The lowest
sex ratios among counties with at
least 100,000 people were found in
Hampshire County, Massachusetts
(88.0), Bronx County, New York
(88.3), and New York County, New
York (88.3). In Hampshire County,
the low sex ratio is influenced by
the presence of several colleges,
two of which are women’s colleges

Some bunnies in the details but the target audience segment of the 18-44 age percentage was 36%, or ~112 Million, the largest of all segments, but showed a decline since 2000.

I just need to sell a $1 story to 5-8% of the 36% to live as I would like to become accustomed!

But Jack,
why just the USA ?
A great many readers life outside the US.

Well it is my market, you lot have your own and I wouldn't want to poach on your market when mine is so large. I'm not greedy. :)

Jack, the non American readers of Lit stories are a fraction over 60%. India provides the second biggest readership and the proportion of Indian readers in the 18/44 group is more than twice that of the USA. Given that their population is 4 times greater than the USA can that audience be ignored - particularly in the future.

As far as I can tell, something like 99% of the readership here is females between 16 and 40. I'm basing this on emails I get. (The under 18 set is anecdotal; lots of people tell me they started reading young but thankfully didn't contact anyone on Lit until 18+). It never occurred to me to ask about race. They come from all over the world, though: Singapore, new zealand, england, northern europe, india, all over the US, Hungary, Iran, and south Africa are examples I remember. I'd estimate a third are married but I don't think I was always given accurate information about that. Maybe 5% are bisexual. There aren't any lesbians.

I've had *one* male email me, discounting some asshole who offered to send me pics of underage girls and claimed he wanted me to write a story about them. (I forwarded his email to the FBI.)

My strong guess is if I write in different categories I'll get other demographics. That's a compelling argument for me to stay with my current categories.

Hampshire county is in Western Massachusetts, Worcester/Springfield.

You'd have different results if you googled Suffolk and/or Middlesex counties, mostly the Boston area with a good percentage of the population being college students.

I don't think there is any doubt on this one. Each category attracts a dramatically different crowd.

True that the Indian market is large but so are the other world markets, however I have a hard enough time writing for US of A perverts. :D

I've tried to write Mommy Porn but I'm not sure it comes off very well. I often wonder if cluster fuckery does as well in the female as the male market?

Ladies does MMF or MMMF turn you on?:cattail:
