so, i actually came back from the university a couple of days ago, but only just now are my feet starting to feel truly normal because holy shit is that hospital fucking gigantic. it took half an hour to smoke a cigarette.

if you made wise use of the elevators which wasn't always possible.

because they're slow and the place is full of people.

so... stairs.

on the plus side, the place is full of hot people. one of my father's nurse practitioners was goddamn gorgeous. like a younger, prettier version of lizzy caplan.

and yes, i mean that. sadly, i can't remember her name. she was just too damned pretty.

on a less shallow and silly plus side, i really have nothing yet. we are still waiting.

what the fuck else is new?

oh, i did like the neurosurgeon who cut him open. seriously, the dude's nice and he seems to have the patience of a saint. probably why dude's a professor, i guess. i don't know. i just know he's a lot more bearable then some shithead doctor's i have met.

Keep your head up. I'm sorry you have to deal all of with this. Saintly hospital doctors *are* hard to come by. It's almost like they only graduate the most arrogant and impatient.

my dad's doing... well enough, i suppose. he's not happy and there's quite a bit of denial, but at least we've got him to stop driving. if only we could get him to also stop talking about fucking mail order snake oil nonsense every time he talks to anyone in scrubs or a white coat.

and aint it the truth. many doctor's are like giant walking hardon's. the good ones are sadly few and far between.

Still, gotta love the alternative medicine spiel. My grand uncle is the same way. I'm prone to believe almost anything in that vein, too.

Except for homeopathy. Have to draw the line somewhere.

my father was tried to defend homeopathy to me once. it didn't go well. there was a lot of yelling. thankfully, he's not really into that horseshit. he is, however, into paying $200 bucks for miracle pills that he convinces himself are actually working for two or three weeks thanks to the placebo effect before quietly coming to the conclusion that they don't, but then comes the next set of cheap looking pill bottles with mysterious proprietary blends. it's fucking painful.

thankfully, we have got him to stop ordering them for the moment, but he clearly doesn't like it as he is obsessed with at least three different ones that he's just certain will do the trick this time.

and, yeah, the surgeon confessed once my dad was in recovery that he's actually used to it because his grandfather (i believe. i was very tired at the time) is the same way. might just be bullshit, but i believe him. he's actually quite good a maneuvering around my father's constant attempts to bring them up. i actually wish i could pull off that kind of conversational magic with my father, but i just can't quite pull it off.

They've been testing the fire alarms for 3 hours now. It's torturous - we never know when it's going to go off.

they did that as we were leaving the hospital. it was surprisingly not really all that annoying. i guess giving sick people heart attacks with screaming sirens is frowned upon in the world of university hospitals. just a few flashing lights and some mildly annoying intermittent bells.

I do oil pulling with coconut oil and I do love it. I usually throw in a tablespoon or so before my shower and can spit it out by the time I'm done. It's great for my gums, I've noticed whiter teeth, and I have some problems with dry mouth in winter - helps with that.

I have no evidence to support cancer claims, but my jaw muscles feel stronger.

I should try both the oil and the tooth picks. I have great teeth but bad gums as well. They never get any worse but they never seem to get any better either.

Pointless, I am glad your father is receiving good care. Waiting is the worst.

and as I side note you will never get these in your mouth:

Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial, fungicide.
Tea tree oil is effective against nail fungus, ringworm, athlete's foot, dandruff, acne, blackheads and many types of infestations including lice, mites, scabies and mosquitoes etc...

In case you where worried.
