It seems that not only does Islam consider any examination of Islam blasphemy, but our more liberally orientated seem to consider it secular heresy to examine what drives Islamic violence in a world dominated by Peaceful Muslims...

They are quick to decry "Christian violence" which is current, ongoing, just an extension of the Crusades (which were only a big thing to the West, in the Arabic World, it was a minor skirmish on the periphery of their world, which was at peace, the peace of homogeny enforced by the sword and the new religion and language) and even quicker to defend and define Islam as purely peaceful and non-violent and any violence done in its name is not true Islam. Anyone who claims that history repeats itself for a reason, and then outline that reason is the real problem; their fear "recruits" violence.

It is a fertile as the imaginations of Joseph Heller.

The problem is that in order to be the "last" prophet, Mohammed (or his revisionist chroniclers) actually took the only person named in the Koran, his adopted son, and declared him unadopted and adoption illegal in Islam. He was to be, in either his mind, or in the creators of the new religion and new language to be the last word in religion and that religion had a message: sword and submission.

Until the end of time or the total submission to Islam as I tried to explain to Colonel Hogan.

That was the Shi'a branch of the family that still believes in a hereditary lineage. (You can tell the hereditary pretenders by their black head dress.)

The more moderate Caliph's, along with the Mu'tazilites, hung in until the 11th century when the school of al Ashar'i took hold and began the Sunni sect.

Since then both schools murder infidels and barbarians and when they run out of those they murder each other. Quite a religion of peace they have.

As we all know, the vast majority of Muslims are peace-loving. We all have Muslim friends or co-workers who are admirable people. And a handful of terrorist plots have been rolled up by the FBI based on tips from Muslims.
