Guys and dolls, I have realised I should start a thread here to splash about it when I give feedback on stories – aka doing a review – on my blog.

My blog: Feminist Erotica, reviews sexy stuff including many Literotica stories, mainly as a means to educate young people who are cruising the net looking to learn more than was provided in their poorly designed Sex Education classes. Therefore everything I review on there has to be safe sex (see here for the rules as to what that means). It’s easier to write at length on a blogpost than on a little post in here, so I often write about the art of writing when I do a review, as well as admonishing people to wear condoms. Sometimes there is a cool discussion in the comments section too, like this ongoing one I’m having with my pal Aussie Scribbler about Consent.

I will still be doing reviews on Lien_Geller’s thread because I like him … er, I mean the thread . If I find a story I like with risky sex, I will give feedback on there and if you have a super hot safe sex story, let me know here and I can give it a whirl for my blog. Sorted! (Gimme five .)

Plus, if you fancy having a cup of tea, a cupcake and a chat – do come in here (er … as it were ;)). I promise not to flirt. OK, I should not tell fibs. I will flirt heavily, and I will also give motherly advice if you have relationship problems or want to know how to cook beef olives or tempura :p.

(PS the emphasis should be on ‘heavy’ in the flirting as I am a 52 yo ex-rugby player with mummy fat. You can imagine me in some little ‘50s style apron if you prefer that sort of thing ;))

And how 'honest and so on' would you prefer us to be, Duchess. ?

You can say it how you feel it. I actually would like to get honest feedback on my blog, as I keep meaning to publicise it more widely for younger people. I have let it become quite intellectual as a lot of writers go on there at the moment. People seem to like it. Let me know. :)

I enjoy critiquing stories once in a while. Are people posting on your blog and we read the stories there? I'm familiar with Liens thread, people email him and then he posts the review on his thread. Is this similar?

Cool thread! I have mucho respect for Curl.

:rose:

PS On the topic of feminism, I am burned out. I consider myself a feminist. The thing is with any label, its not a one size fits all, and I'm extremely tired of people who don't understand this. No H-bombs please. :) Just making some general statements since the F word has been mentioned. I found your blog interesting and enjoyed Curl's review.

I post reviews on the blog and people can link to the stories from the review. Would you like to contribute a review? That would be so great. It's very easy. Pick any (safe sex) story you like and write about it!

I know Lien is happy for other people to review stories in his thread, too. People put the link up in his thread for him or others to review, LaRascasse has got a very good story on offer there at the moment for feedback.

BTW 'Safe sex' doesn't mean it must be full of condoms, LOL. This is a spoof-y post I wrote: Safe sex - it doesn't have to be like this. Safe sex includes oral (so long as you don't have cuts in your mouth and I have yet to read an oral story where the heroine does!), dry humping, titfucks, handjobs, sex with people's feet ... well, read the label cloud and you'll see what a lot of inventive ways there are to have safe sex

Thank you. :)

Totally! When I lecture on this subject (I mean professionally rather than drone on and on about it on here ;)) I call the lecture 'Feminisms'. Personally I find it very annoying when people fail to recognise that I am wearing my '50s aprons in an ironic postmodern feminist way and expect me to make them a cup of tea.

Actually I had one boss whom I got on with very well when I worked as a secretary. He used to laugh and say: 'brain the size of a planet and you want me to type a letter?' If he had a meeting, I would make him a cup of coffee and come in with it, swaying my hips, and breathe: "Your coffee, Steve." The other guys (it was of course all guys in the meeting ) would look at him enviously and afterwards we would laugh heartily about it. Yes, you're right! I was very very bored as a secretary, LOL.

I've put up a blogpost today which is somewhat different from my usual ones, about the FAWC6 - the Sixth Friendly Anonymous Writing Competition.

The FAWCs were set up by the writer slyc_willie. We were very saddened to read of his early death from a pulmonary embolism recently. The writer _Lynn_ had the idea to run another FAWC in his memory and those stories have posted now.

Read the stories, listed in Chain Stories and under the FAWCker name. See if you can guess who wrote which one. Vote and comment on what is bound to be a very strong collection of writing.

Just FYI, it's against forum rules to redirect people to other websites. They will be removed as spam.

When we got spam in AH, I used to pretend I was getting out my frying pan, and making everyone's favourite breakfast, LOL.

These posts aren't spam, though, because:
  • They are directing readers and writers to material relevant for stories on this site (lots of people post links to blogposts and news stories which they think others will be interested to read, not always strictly relevant to erotic writing).
  • I'm not selling anything nor trying to promote myself. (In fact I am so rubbish at this that there are several of my own stories I haven't managed to review on my own blog!)
  • I'm genuinely working to support better writing and to promote Literotica writing, as well as other erotica, through my blog. I can't do this with posts on here as in my reviews I often write at length.

My blog is a collaborative project aimed at supporting the writers Literotica publishes, and Literotica as a site, not a commercial enterprise seeking to exploit the space here for publicity.

A direct quote from Laurel:

Generally, we don't allow promotion of offsite links. However, we have allowed people to post links to, say, articles which mention Literotica or link to Literotica stories. This blog appears to link to and promote Literotica authors, it doesn't appear overly ad-filled/spammy or covered in popups/popunders/adware/etc, and seems to be a geniune attempt to promote/discuss Lit stories. If any of those factors change, then we'll take a second look - but for now, it's okay so long as the linking to said blog is confined to that thread.

So, this thread stays as long as it meets Laurel's T&C. Anyone having any more issues with this thread can take it directly to her through a private message.

I had some helpful feedback on my blog, to say I should cut out txt tlk. The commentator said they like the casual tone of my blog reviews but that when I say things like 'LOL', they found that distracting.

Here are a couple of examples of how I write, and of course you can go to my blog and read many more! What do you think? Should I cut out the winks and LOLs?

She decides to go on Gumtree and advertise for casual sex. She is amazed by the number of responses, LOL.

He addresses his would-be lover with respect and consideration, asking about her preferences and promising he will offer safe sex for her ease of mind as well as lubrication for ease ... OK, I will leave you to read about that bit (wink).

(Blogpost about rugby story.)
OK, in my hands (<snerk>) practically anything can be adapted to innuendo. Game pie? Hope the meat was well hung (wink). Growing potatoes? Always fun to get down and dirty (nudge). It's really asking for it, though, when you have oval balls, a hooker and you are supposed to make passes (although not to be forward - LOL).

I did find it a bit offputting at first, but I've become used to it. It's a style that's light and fun. Perhaps some of us big-headed auteurs might feel it demeans our art. But that's what some of us need.

I think I'll basically line up with Gorza on this.

I can't remember if I found her use of txt-abbreviations offputting at first, since I've been reading Naoko's reviews like for-eh-ver! <Valley-speak off> I do appreciate her use of emoticon-like expressions to lighten the tone of reviews. There are plenty of other places for formal reviews of things, but I doubt they help toward the vital role of attracting new readers to our genre.

I absolutely believe that there should be more of the serious literary criticism of erotica AND more of the sexy, fun criticism of erotica. Since Naoko can clearly do both, I'm happy to just let her fly and just sit back and appreciate the brilliant and entertaining show.

It's cute but sometimes a little overdone. On the other hand I'm not sure I'd recognize your voice without the occasional <wink> or <snerk>

I'm not even sure what a snerk is. Can you provide a picture of one in the wild?

I did imagine a snerk as some sort of water fowl. Maybe something particularly elusive, but certainly not dry.

Yes, there's a sort of viscous phlegm to the sound of it, I should say. I ought to record one for GoldenCojones, LOL.
