Since I've gotten more active here, two things have happened:

1. I've added a lot more people to my ignore list.
2. Scores on my stories, some of them with a few hundred votes and scores that were stable for months, have begun dropping. I can only explain that by having pissed off some voting bloc.

I'm coming to the conclusion that there's really nothing to be gained by posting here. I rarely create threads, and the last one I created was closed in less than two days because of what looked like a planned effort by two people to "attack" each other to get the thread closed, and I can only speculate as to why anyone wanted that thread closed. I'm not impressed with the level of discourse here - debate's impossible; people play humpty dumpty with words. I'm reasonably certain there are sock puppets loose in here. And it's depressing how often I've used Ignore and found myself advising others to use it.

I suppose this is to be expected in a collection of people who are in effect competing with each other, but it feels like Junior High school all over again.

The final straw was realising I was seeking out JBJ/Noir's posts because they tended to have actual content. JBJ is, of course, an asshole, and proud of it - and I mean that without offence, he's made it a somewhat endearing characteristic - but at least he's entirely straightforward, and even his insults seem on-point. But when you find yourself respecting someone because his insults are at least on-point, it's a fair sign you're in the wrong place.

I wish you all well in your writing efforts. If you all put half the energy into writing as you put into dissing and manipulating people here, you'd all be published by now.

Clearly, it's the same people allowed to run around the board and stir up enough shit to close threads. That's their life. They take joy and pride in you leaving.

I've reported them more than once but to Laurel and to the Mod but no avail. They're still posting here and allowed to attack, taunt, terrorize, tease, harass, and call those posters names who mind their own business and don't bother anyone.

Forget about having a thick skin. you need a taser and a whip. I wish I could burn them with a cigarette every time they write something mean and/or stupid but I'd run out of cigarettes.

Several of these people have serious mental issues Seriously, who spends day after day posting tens of thousands of idiotic comments? It makes their day when you react to them and when you get down to their level.

They are no better than terrorists and by you leaving, they win. They terrorized you do leave. Yeah, sure, you can say that it's not worth the effort but just ignore them. If we all ignored these six lunatics, this board would be a better place.

I blame their mothers for telling them and encouraging them to go and post on Literotica's forum board. I thought the minimum age was 18-years-old but with this band of six malcontents act more like 13-year-old junior high school students. They all should be banned from the site.

I don't have to name them. They'll identify themselves. They'll all make themselves known after my post posts. They can't help themselves from showing everyone the disturbed individuals that they are.

I'm one of the few normal and morally good people here. It takes a strong woman to take control of mean men in a man's world. If ever I met them in person, I'd shred them to pieces with my bullwhip before paddling their asses red raw, something their mothers should have done years ago.

Regarding the forum itself (not the stories), my informal scoring system shows that you attacked as often as you were attacked. I label the forum battles a tie.

Regarding the stories side and unethical downvoting and spite voting: I partly agree, in that I do think people who make multiple enemies end up with multiple individuals who spite vote. It's unfortunate, it's unethical, and it's wrong.

What I disagree with (this includes disagreeing with several other authors here also in the same boat) is that it's a bloc. I think the culprits are multiple individuals, discreetly doing dastardly deeds. I doubt anyone would openly admit to anyone else that they'd resort to such behavior.

Anyway, considering how contentious the forums can be, I thought you fit in well. I hope you reconsider and stick around.

Now as usual posts get totally off topic.

Forums take a lot of getting used to. What people seem to forget is that nothing you do on the web is truly anonymous. It can all be traced. So hiding behind pseudonyms is just to make you feel better.

Anyway my point is that I have felt the same and decided to stop visiting, "thank goodness" I hear being said LOL. There is a lure to forums as a way of being around like minded individuals, and without having to travel and suffer through those uncomfortable conversation pauses.

The main thing is to learn who is worth your time and who to ignore.

Your stories can take the occassional rating hit, but stop and think whether that is all that important. It hurts your ego at the start but not much else, unless you are chasing some competition. Noticed that some scores do get adjusted as bomb ratings get removed by lit site people.

I think of the AH as a help-yourself salad bar - I take what I like and pass on the stuff I don't. I had no expectations when I came to this place, but was pleasantly surprised by a number of people and some interesting tidbits. My mind has been expanded, sometimes in good ways. LOL
