San Bernadino

The reason can't be popularity, surely?
Or even noteriety for that matter.
It's like those cluster suicides that happen at one school, then they spread to another, imo.

It's not that americans (the laypersons) are better or worse than other people.
It's more the media, hollywood and advertizing who, in a paradoxical way, glorify violence. And the people who are prone to such things (the disgrunted person who was bullied, the psychopath etc.) are more in tune with these messages. So give that particular group of people (who, proportion-wise, are not more numerous than in other countries) access to firearms in a system that encourages narcissism : recipe for disaster.

There has to be some huge thing going badly wrong for this to even be an option.
There has to be a reason they become so disenfranchised..... it's not like America is a country where you have to choose between dieing of thirst and drinking water so contaminated it can kill you anyway (as in, loads more places around the world are much, much worse places to live).
Everything you could ever need to live a comfortable happy life is in the USA.... so, why???
This too, imo, but in a different type of shooting - a smaller percent of the above and more of the gang-related or lashing out stuff.
As to the reason for it : I'm just as perplexed as you are.
Change/rapid decline in quality of life (whereas those other countries were used to it)? Social and racial tensions?
These just don't entirely explain it for me.

This is not America - this is a few people out of the vast population.

Ok, here's another theory, and I began fearing it 30 yrs ago.
You wont like it.
I call it the "day care" generation.
Children used to be raised by a parent. Hopefully a loving caring parent.
Then it all changed. Both parents worked and the children were raised largely by strangers for money, in a large group.
Much like a prison works.
Generally, if you put someone in a group social setting, they will be somewhat inclined to learn the bad behaviour of others.
And as good as daycare may be, it's not the Waltons, and at a very important time in a child's developement.
The day care age has now grown up.
Just a theory.
Who knows

What good is the "right to bear arms" if ya don't go out and use 'em? amiright?

Well they can be a pain to clean after 4 hours of shooting at the range. Most folks don't go shooting as often as they may like to. Range fee's are getting ridiculous though.

If the United States was the only nation in the world where day care was widely used, it might be worth looking into. This is not even to mention the "group social setting" known as school.

There is one thing that does set the U.S. apart from less violent countries, we all know what it is, and we as an electorate have made the conscious decision to do nothing about it.

From where did you get your MD?

hatred and a shitty mental health system

Three dudes acting in concert wearing body armour doesn't say mental health, it says premeditated action. But what kind of fucking lunatic wants to shoot up a facility for the disabled is beyond me.

Liability insurance has to be kind of high when they let 9 year old girls fire full auto machine guns.

They save money on piss poor instructors who get their heads blown off by 9 year old girls firing full auto weapons.

That poor little girl! I do hope she wasn't to scarred by that.

Most of the gun violence in Chicago is due to gangs fighting over territory to sell drugs. The democratic controlled government seems ok with the civilian deaths as a result.
Chicago: 2,703 shootings , 440 dead to date

I'm still hearing questions about whether it really was three. The argument against it being some sort of organized effort is exactly what you said -- the randomness of the target.
