It's like those cluster suicides that happen at one school, then they spread to another, imo.The reason can't be popularity, surely?
Or even noteriety for that matter.
It's not that americans (the laypersons) are better or worse than other people.
It's more the media, hollywood and advertizing who, in a paradoxical way, glorify violence. And the people who are prone to such things (the disgrunted person who was bullied, the psychopath etc.) are more in tune with these messages. So give that particular group of people (who, proportion-wise, are not more numerous than in other countries) access to firearms in a system that encourages narcissism : recipe for disaster.
This too, imo, but in a different type of shooting - a smaller percent of the above and more of the gang-related or lashing out stuff. There has to be some huge thing going badly wrong for this to even be an option.
There has to be a reason they become so disenfranchised..... it's not like America is a country where you have to choose between dieing of thirst and drinking water so contaminated it can kill you anyway (as in, loads more places around the world are much, much worse places to live).
Everything you could ever need to live a comfortable happy life is in the USA.... so, why???
As to the reason for it : I'm just as perplexed as you are.
Change/rapid decline in quality of life (whereas those other countries were used to it)? Social and racial tensions?
These just don't entirely explain it for me.
