So, as December appears on the horizon...it's time to see who would like to take part in a special kind of writing challenge.

PLEASE NOTE, ALL PROMPTS HAVE NOW BEEN TAKEN!

Sorry if you're too late to join in this time but hopefully we'll have 24 awesome pieces to read in the very near future!

There will be 24 prompts (all wintery but not all directly linked to Christmas) and you can choose up to 3* prompts that you would like to write for.
The challenge is to post your pieces on the right days in December, so prompt no. 1 on the 1st, no.2 on the 2nd and so on.
That way we'll have a writing advent calendar of sorts with something new to enjoy every day until Christmas itself.

(*dependent on the number of participants)

Prompts will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis so if two people want the same prompt, the first person who posted that they'd like it will get it. There'll be a fixed word count for the whole month of 2, 512 words but as always it's a guideline for an upper limit and not a target to be reached. Pieces can be very Christmas-y or not festive in the slightest, erotic or not, poetry or prose. As always we want people to write what they feel inspired to write!

I know Christmas is a busy time for everyone but I thought this might be a fun way to pass the days. The idea of sharing the prompts in advance is that you can pick the one(s) you want, write your piece(s) ahead of time and then just post on the right day, or send your piece(s) to me and I'll post it/them for you if you think you might not be around or available to post yourself ;)

Writers will be able to claim their chosen prompts from Monday 23rd November!
Prompts can be claimed by leaving a post in this thread and will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.
Writers can claim up to 3 prompts although this will depend on how many people decide to take part.
So why not have a look through the links below and see if anything inspires you!

Here's a link to last year's challenge in case you want to see how it worked out.
There were a few missed days  but on the whole it went briliantly and there were some simply awesome entries too!

Why not check it out...

Special Christmas Challenge 2014

Last year's entry was pretty cathartic for me so I'm happy to throw my name in the ring (assuming one of the prompts calls to me).

Looking forward to seeing what you cook up, Brit... It's always amazing to see the prompts you find and the creative works people come up with in response.

:rose:

I would be happy to take one of the leftovers. Something lonely that needs a tale to wake it up.

Yay! More people!

bounces excitedly

Would be honoured and thrilled to have you both taking part! :rose:

I'll throw my Tam 'o' Shanter in the ring if I may?

Would be a pleasure to have you taking part! :D

Hoping for a few more people to join in but, nevertheless, the prompts will hopefully go up for viewing at the weekend and people will be able to pick the ones they'd like to write for at the start of next week. ;)

Anyone else want to join in the festive writing fun...?

I'll be taking one! I was going to complain about possibly having to take one after Alice, but you know, lolling around in Alice's shadows doesn't seem to be like such a bad thing.

Thank you for keeping up this fabulous system of prompts, Miss Witch. You're wonderful.:kiss:

One for me, please.

But of course... :rose:

This is fantastic news! And awww, thanks... I just do what I can.

I want to practice some writing. I'm in.

Yay! :D

It's the miniest Brit's birthday tomorrow so all kind of Frozen themed madness abounds from here on in but...the 24 prompts will hopefully be revealed on Sunday...at some point...

Those wishing to take part can then peruse the selection and make a mental selection.
The actual claiming of prompts will happen later next week!

And the prompts for December 2015 are up in the first post of the thread! :D

happy dance

The claiming of prompts will start tomorrow, Monday 23rd November, so have a look and see which one(s) you think you'd like to write for!

Anyone can claim any prompt they like as long as no one else has already done so and you don't need to have posted in this thread already to be eligible to take part. The more the merrier!

I know I'm early, but may not get a chance to post tomorrow. I'm interested in 3, 14, & 17, if that's alright.

I'd like to participate, if there's room.

Question, since I don't normally participate in your challenges, Brit-the 2512 limit, that's word count per entry/post, right?

I like the looks of #20, for certain.

Because it's you...consider them provisionally reserved ;)

Hi! There's always room! :D

And yeah, the 2512 word count is guidance per entry. Obviously you don't have to write that much and if your story ends up closer to 3,000 or even 4,000 words then...so be it ;)

Official claiming of the prompts will start tomorrow but am sure you can take No. 20 if no one else desperately wants it...

Got it, and...got it.

So, it's like Black Friday for post claiming? The horror! ;)

This looks intriguing. I would like to list myself as an interested party. If I decide to go for it, I will be back tomorrow with some choices for prompts.
