For me, it just lacks enough realism and is the type of story I don't read. (Or, as soon as I see a story-line is going that direction, I discontinue reading.) Sure, every household is different, etc. Maybe the mom would kick her daughter out of the house for "bringing boys home" because her husband said-so? Seems unlikely. Even if a college student "living at home", why can't the young lady have male friends or an actual boyfriend at the house?

essentially, yes, it would have to be the "turned 18 over summer break" or got held back a year but I don't find it unrealistic for a dad or stepdad to set the rule, "no bringing guys home". I guess my preferred version would be something like:

Uh, I'm not quite sure how my topic derailed into a whole family incest story. I guess there's no harm in other people giving ideas but I would really just prefer to limit it to my original idea.

Yes, when saying that the dad spies on the girls, this is what I meant. That he gets up for something in the middle of the night (bathroom, food, water, etc.) and hears noises coming from the daughter's bedroom, prompting him to check it out. I just had to add my two cents here after reading several of the comments. It does seem that some people have gotten far away from the OP idea, so I'll add my view and see if it helps. Here's what I think could make for a compelling read.
