Here's a story; it is all the more powerful because it is true.
My loving spouse was out doing errands for my elderly mother tonight. Running to the store, putting gas in the car, with what little money we had.
She encountered a poor couple, worried about the fact that the woman had not eaten today and was diabetic, as well as the fact that the woman needed a ride to the community hospital for staple removal from her injured leg. (No money for bus).
She fed them and dropped them off at hospital.
When asked if she could do anything else, she was told that she'd done enough.
And I'm ashamed. Would I have listened to them?
