I am shocked to know that even in winter Japanese kids wear only short pants or short skirts and they do not have any idea of woolen pants or cotton-padded pants, as their Chinese counterparts wear in winter.

In the era of Mao Zedong, China had a very good relation with the former Soviet Union and then it went sour. but many Chinese are now convinced that they have been trapped by the former Soviet Union experts into wearing such pants in cold weather in the name of keeping warm out, but actually with an aim to weaken the cold defense system of Chinese people.

So how many pants do you wear in winter?

I generally change pants a couple of times during the winter months. So...several?

17.
It's a little hard to walk, and pee-ing is a nightmare... but I am toasty warm from the waist down ;)

By the time they've got tights, a thermal base layer, and leggings over them, I see no reason to wear more than one pair of pants under all that.

Also, as those who've seen it would agree, my backside has enough natural insulation on it! :D

Edited to add: *enlightenment dawns* Oh.... you meant trousers? I never wear more than one pair at a time, except for fancy dress.

For the love of Eris, will you please give some indication of when you're using Canadian/American English - it confuses the hell out of those thinking in British English!

I dont wear pants anymore which makes sense since I am Japanese and all.

Hey, don't be naughty. OK, it is really funny when you do know what I mean but you try to deviate.

When I visited San Francisco, a tour guide told me that near the fisherman's wharf, there was a prison located in the center of a vast water, and that in order to prevent the prison break, the inmates were given hot water shower every night so that they would not sustain the long time immersion in the cold water even if they did succeed in stealing out.

It is really amazing to treat criminals in such a humane way, but the cost seems to high, what will the taxpayers think of that? I remember two or a few years back many families could not afford to have heating at home in the U.S.

This is a good thread to remind people that the annual international No Pants Day will be coming soon, next January!

Bookmark the Improv Everywhere website to make sure you don't miss out on when you can participate and show off yer booty in yer granny pannys and tighty whiteys!

And, here in Alaska, that day will be followed by International How to Treat Frostbite Day.

Most of the time I only wear one pair of pants at a time, but occasionally, I might wear wind pants over my ski pants, or goose down or GoreTex pants over regular pants. It's important to have proper pants in the north.

And more important to have proper undies. When xc skiing, a pair of wind briefs is extremely important. Certain parts shouldn't be frozen.

I only wear one pair, but I buy them two sizes too long and double up the legs and pin the hems to the waist.
It really only works for midgets. Though.
