What is Capitalism?

CNN debate moderator Anderson Cooper asked, "You don't consider yourself a capitalist, though?" Sanders responded with grim vehemence: "Do I consider myself part of the casino capitalist process by which so few have so much and so many have so little, by which Wall Street's greed and recklessness wrecked this economy? No, I don't. I believe in a society where all people do well, not just a handful of billionaires."

Clinton gingerly distinguished her views from his. In thinking about capitalism, she said, "I think about all the small businesses that were started because we have the opportunity and the freedom in our country for people to do that and to make a good living for themselves and their families." But she said it is necessary to "save capitalism from itself."

For how long now, have we been saving "Capitalism" from itself?

Clearly you've had a lobotomy and still all you have is hate and stupidity...

Why do you consider the Wall Street crowd capitalists? They are primarily trading equities that are dependent on the continuing largess of the government. Billions of dollars trade hands daily based on the Federal reseve's interest rate.

Capitalism was never meant to be coupled with the treasury, and in order to enrich a few, we have allowed a system which worked, to become corrupted.

Nobody is against seeking investors to put up money to help start a new company or to build on a new technology - but the stock market only does that today with the rare IPO. Today the stock market is about crushing lives in order to squeeze another 1/8 out of a stock to cover the CEO's stock option gamble.

Trading equities completely fabricated from bundled mortgages (without actually attaching responsibility for the mortgages to the equity) of various risk and then selling them back and forth? That isn't capitalism, that is a wholly fabricated market created only to shift wealth from the poor to the wealthy.

(you know -- reverse wealth distribution)

"Capitalism is a game. In the first round, those that are best at grabbing grab most of the chips. In the second round, those that have the most chips get to make the rules so that they keep them."

You know what it is so I'll assume you're trolling around for an argument. I like free markets and private ownership.

Hey, since you suddenly grew a brain, as compared to that OCD stuff in the other thread, my turn:

I just don't get these constant 'all or nothing' fights between 'libs and conservatives' on a porn site.
Both systems -socialism/capitalism or lib./cons. - have their own merits, as long as they're applied in moderation with an emphasis on individualism. Australia is the best example of this: it's thriving, while the rest of the world is going down the drain.
What you guys are referring to are radicals or collectivists (neoliberalism, communism etc.).

How could you tell those mothers were on welfare?

Maybe because they were all Brits?

So you were on a bus in Australia, all the mothers on the bus were British and you deduced from this that they were on welfare?

It's a simple question, how could you tell those mothers were on welfare? Is there some reason you don't want to answer the question?

I answered it. The kind of Brits that are like you. Not all, tho - I had some good experiences, too, with those who don't have a stick up their ass

I think you're lying. I don't think all the mothers on that bus had British accents. Leaving aside how anyone on welfare could afford to fly to Australia from Britain, how could you tell those mothers were on welfare?

No doubt by the very same, totally bigoted illogic you exercise when proclaiming anyone who believes in God is retarded.

Nice to read you've met another mental soul mate here.
