Islamo-fascist terrorist have not attacked the US again because Bush's plan to go into Iraq and disrupt the entire region worked perfectly. They now have more choice pickings close to home, like whole countries to conquer.

Same will happen to ISIS. If you kill 50 civilians over course of strikes. You probably killed 200 real threats.

ISIS might be able to field a brigade with no air defence. Maybe a division, 10k fighters. At most. CIA estimates are not trustworthy. Holding territory requires garrison troops.

I went looking for that number. Either army doesn't care to collect data or it is secret. At end of Blackhawk Down, it was stated that 18 US soldiers died and 1000 Somalia fighters. For a 55:1 ratio.

Dead terrorist looks just like a dead civilian. I'm sure I read 100-1 in Fallujah. Airstrikes get most I'm sure. Kill more badguys with a 500lb bomb than a bullet.

Might depend on success rate for air strike sorties. US is over 4000 against ISIS. Say 25% success rate...1000. Get 6 in each attack... 1000x6...10 years of war...1000x6x10...60,0000 dead terrorists.

Other Nato forces add to the total but leave them out as a safe margin 60,000 might be close.

US casualties were I think over 3000 dead and 30k wounded in Iraq. Even at 10:1 that's 30,000 dead terrorists. A modern western army should be able to kill mostly illiterate goatherders at 10:1.

Iraqi army has had 60,000 soldiers killed by US and ISIS.
