No because when it comes up you will hear people cry about how those numbers are people who needed to die or who were killed by inept gun owners or suicides. And then the gun lobby gets involved to make sure nobody passes any laws that might hurt Colt sales. Then the NRA starts spewing whatever garbage they feel like spewing that day. Then gun owners who would never harm a human being start getting paranoid because they're told the evil black guy in Washington wants to raid their house and take their deer gun.
If Congress had balls and the NRA actually cared about anyone other than the NRA we might get meaningful change but that won't happen.
I own guns, I like guns. I like to hunt and shoot and even enjoy cleaning them. I don't masturbate over them and I certainly don't keep one under my pillow in case some black guy or Mexican comes sneaking in my window at night. I want to keep them but if losing them meant thousands would live, I'd hand them over myself.

There is a gun and a probably crazy person. We can put the crazy person away now but the gun will continue to be there, waiting for the next crazy person to pick it up until and unless we do something about it.

Was this a typical liberal safe gun-free zone where the anti-gun crowd holds sway?
Were there legal drugs involved designed to mainstream the mentally unstable?

The US Ambassador to the Court of St. James had some very interesting words to say to me on America's gun-obsession recently. I expect it's old hat to you, though. And in any case he is an Obama supporter, so beyond the pale.

Describe "gun-obsession" as you mean it. It's like you're trying to lay a trap, no matter how I respond, this is so ambiguous as to allow you to take it anywhere so, knowing the nature of most people on the board, I am hesitant to respond. (I do not think you mean to do such a thing, so I await further clarification.)
