The govt' makes hundreds of billions of dollars per year from their involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.

Legalizing pot on a nation-wide scale would cripple of the biggest drug cartels in the world (the CIA/US Federal Government). I guess their operations in California were shaken up by the medicinal pot business there, which is why they have decided to regulate it.

The enormous profits made from this are put towards the clandestine black budget.

The pot tax revenues in Colorado are expected to double next year. Has the overall consumption increased that much or has the black market been pushed out of the game? I am not sure.

if you grow it you shouldn't use x chemicals to do it, you need a permit to draw or divert natural watersheds....etc. There are certain regulations we need.
