Gov Jerry Brown set to sign the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act

http://www.dailynews.com/opinion/20...een-legal-and-illegal-gets-hazy-susan-shelley

"They’ll be required to label each plant with a government-assigned “unique identifier,” part of a “track and trace” program that follows every product from seed to sale. Weighing and measuring devices will be strictly regulated. Facilities will be required to have adequate security systems to prevent theft. New tax reporting requirements will log the movement of commercial cannabis and cannabis products through the distribution chain, capturing names, addresses, license numbers, transaction dates and taxes due."

All right here in the text of the bill....

I get that you ran out of your pot supply,
given your latest posts,

but… dude… an entire thread about it?

The govt' makes hundreds of billions of dollars per year from their involvement in the illegal narcotics trade.

Legalizing pot on a nation-wide scale would cripple of the biggest drug cartels in the world (the CIA/US Federal Government). I guess their operations in California were shaken up by the medicinal pot business there, which is why they have decided to regulate it.

The enormous profits made from this are put towards the clandestine black budget.

It is a hot mess. Too much regulation increases the price and the consumers find a cheaper alternative supplier. Colorado is still finding the balance. The pot tax revenues in Colorado are expected to double next year. Has the overall consumption increased that much or has the black market been pushed out of the game? I am not sure.

The cradle to grave tracking of each plant is extreme. Would we ask the corn farmer to do that? Fuck no. The genie is out of the bottle. If you partake of the evil weed or not, individual freedom has increased.

My comments probably don't have that much to do with the OP's intent.
But still: since I love conspiracy theories nwo Bieldeberg NSA etc., I'm taking advantage:
- You are right. And I know that some people see us as nutcases or conspirationists, but if one looks back in history, one sees similar things:

For example, this: ( common knowledge to many)
"How the Allied multinationals supplied Nazi Germany throughout World War II"
https://libcom.org/library/allied-multinationals-supply-nazi-germany-world-war-2
"The following excerpts thoroughly document how capitalists really acted during the Second World War. Behind the patriotic propaganda that encouraged the working class to slaughter each other in the interests of competing national interests, international capital quietly kept the commodity circuits flowing and profits growing across all borders."

Other than employing bureaucrats why would they want to track that? What would that knowledge gain them for a product that is legal?

Are you talking about the legal pot or the legal corn?

Conservatives have twisted panties about the legalization to begin with. If they can block, slow down, tax, regulate, or in any other way fuck with the process they will. The masses voted. Get over it.

The penny wise consumer will find a way to grow their own. No tracking, no taxes, no stems and seeds that they don't need.

I meant the pot. I agree it just sounds like needless red tape just to be a hindrance.

What is conservative about telling people what they can and cannot consume? (rhetorical of course.)

Many of the conservative hot spots in Colorado have used local regulation to ban stores from selling pot. The consumers drive to the next town to do their business and leave the tax dollars there.

Colorado Springs did not have enough money to empty the trash barrels in public parks. They cut power to every other street light. They also banned recreational pot shops.

Fucking goofy fucks.

Barry Goldwater is rolling over in his grave. In his last years people said he had become less conservative, that his second wife, the president of the Arizona chapter of Planned Parenthood or some such, had unduly influenced him.

The truth is most conservatives don't have any idea what that label means.

OSHA, FDA, EPA...

All these barriers to entry are set-up to keep small business out of the market, the only people who will be able to comply with these regulations will be existing large corps.

Unions, who vote democrat, don't like small business either.

LOL it's late September in Humboldt California.....no one within 200 miles is out of supply.

The thread is about how CA is about to ruin the best thing that's happened to it's economy since silicon valley.

Other than employing bureaucrats why would they want to track that? What would that knowledge gain them for a product that is legal?

To keep CHILDREN from getting it...remember this is for public SAFETY!

LOL

When did the Federal Government legalize pot?

They didn't, the Republicans hate money and freedom too much.

No...treating your employees right and not pouring toxic shit all over isn't a barrier to entry.

It's the 'you need to give us all your info and let us track every bud so we can throw you under the bus when a Republican becomes POTUS and sends his goons into CA to fuck potheads up" that's not going work.......

I guarantee you nobody of any significance is doing that shit because growers aren't about to trust CA not to roll over for the feds.

When Susan Cameron starts selling splif to the general public and the Feds drag her ass off to prison, won't that be embarrassing?

I'm glad you took it as it was intended aka a (not ill-intended) joke,
because some of my latest attempts at making jokes came out quite wrong and a couple of people got offended.
Thanks

Then the whole "cannabis industry" is really just a house of cards.

At 40+ billion a year in CA alone it's a mighty serious fuckin' house of cards.

Question is why are conservatives so against making some money?

Better yet why do they keep posing as freedom loving capitalist when they are anything but......

Personally as a pro capitalist I hope a Republican not named Trump (he would take the money) hammers all these evil liburhul states that want to make money and arrests MILLIONS of people.

And why do people keep electing Jerry Brown? Isn't there anybody else better than that?

No, apparently not.

Why do they insist that money belongs in the hands of cartels instead of Americans??

No, apparently not.

40 billion? What's a joint cost these days?

So you're saying the US should go into the recreational drug business?

That's just CA.....not much prices have come down actually, you can get a big ol fat cone for 5 bucks.

So you're saying the US should go into the recreational drug business?

US has been in the recreational drug business for pretty much ever......where have you been?

I'm saying bring ALL the recreational drug production that we need for our consumption HERE instead of some 3rd world shit hole cartel.

The CA pot industry is absolutely a clusterfuck. Adding more regulations to the medical distribution of maryjane is laughable. (Of course so are high speed trains... Yay Jerry!). If marijuana were to be decriminalized for everyone it would need regulation but I don't know... It's the gov'ment... It's gonna be a clusterfuck regardless.

An example of the fuckiness... In my city, with your medical marijuana recommendation, you are legally allowed to grow your own mj in the great outdoors. Just so long as your plants are surrounded by four walls and covered.

I'm still a hold out on the rec personally because it would take away my right to buy firearms.

Why would it "need regulation?"

Brussel sprouts dont seem to need regulation. "Dietary supplements' that may very well be not efficacious or contain harmful substances are not regulated.

It's pretty good as it is.

The only thing cluster fuck about it is the health/environmental aspect and not enough agencies are making money off it.

I does need it in the same way sprouts do.

if you grow it you shouldn't use x chemicals to do it, you need a permit to draw or divert natural watersheds....etc. There are certain regulations we need.

But a lot of it is just total bullshit.
