Yes. Sometimes I'm one.

Usually a cup of coffee returns me to my normal self.

i'd hope most brits know what the first means and lots the second

Defenestration - now there's a word you wouldn't think was really necessary

Compulsory Latin at school. Mainly used for crosswords these days.

I started learning Latin at age 7. I finished at 18 with an A Level.

I use it now for family history research because records of my maternal family go back to when Latin was used for all records.

Thanks for participating! I didn't think "curmudgeon" was a particularly obscure word, but I had to tell someone on here to Google it yesterday, so I decided to check.

Latin was an elective at my school, and I ignorantly elected to not take it. In hindsight I wish that I had. I learned enough Latin legal phrases in law school to make it out of law school.

How many people think they know what a vomitorium is, but are wrong?

I had not heard this word until visiting several surviving Roman amphitheaters and stadiums in Turkey during a recent trip. I wonder if the ancient exit signs said "Vomit".

Shall I then be more plain?

...or perhaps more... distinct?

Be of more renown?
