According to the newspaper's sources, who are in law enforcement, the woman who has accused Kane went to a hospital, where a rape kit was administered.

Kane, 26, has not been charged. Last summer, he signed an eight-year, $84 million contract with the Blackhawks. Kane was scheduled to bring the Stanley Cup to Buffalo this weekend, but it's unclear whether that will happen.

Less than two months after indicating a grand jury would consider the case, Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said that no physical or forensic evidence backs up the woman's allegations. He also noted inconsistencies between her accounts and those of eyewitnesses.

I guess the rape kit came back negative. Probably consensual sex. All indications are of a money hungry slut looking to make a score.

If the doctors say no rape occurred and police say same, so do witnesses. You have her word against how many others.

Rich athletes are known to use their wealth and fame to protect them from prosecution. But in this case there seems to be zero evidence of a crime.

Moral of the story. Do not go home drunk from a bar with a guy you just met, especially if he is a rich and famous person.

Do the smart thing and arrange a public date and go from there.

I am not saying she asked for it. Rapists should be castrated. No means No. And you are no gentleman if you take advantage of a drunk chick. But in this case there seems zero evidence of a crime on his part anyways.

On Wednesday, Eoannou held a news conference in the same law office boardroom where he displayed the evidence bag which he had confirmed to be authentic. He said the paper bag was labeled with personal identifying information for the woman, details on where the rape kit was used and the initials of the nurses who administered the kit.

He began having reservations of the mother’s version of events after continuing his own investigation into how the bag was found, and after meeting with prosecutors on Thursday.

Eoannou wouldn’t reveal what specific concerns he had with the mother’s story. He would only say, “I’m not comfortable with that version of events.”
