What is with all the Troll action and why don't the mods do anything about it? Or can anyone just blast the boards with multiple 'Read my story, please read my story?!' posts and bump them every few days with 'no comments, here's a picture of my trailer'.

Aside from the Summer Loving and the upcoming Halloween story contests, are there any other LEGITIMATE contests? There was mention of a monthly contest?

There are other themed contests. Following Halloween is Winter Holiday. There's a sticky post at the top of the AH entitled "Authors please read" that posts the themed contest schedule for each year.

You're entered in the monthly contests and year-end contests automatically by posting stories.

The top 3 scoring stories each month with at least 10 votes are awarded the monthly prizes.

The top scoring stories in every category each month are nominated for the year-end awards.

Those are the only official contests now that the official Survivor contest has been suspended. ( The Survivor contest continues under the direction of members )

Ah... I didn't get the troll part at first. I wasn't even thinking about the forums.

Half of the threads he's bumping used to be in other forums. They were first dumped into the General Board. The folks there who put up with virulent bigots, political spammers, and celebrity stalkers on a daily basis protested en masse that they didn't want him around.

So, they scraped him off their shoes on our front porch.

Just put him and his propaganda alt on ignore.

The term is misapplied here. A troll is a provocateur, eliciting outraged responses. By that definition, LIT's *authors*, not readers, are the trolls. Many LW stories are obviously trolling for outrage. Those responding punitively are not trolls, merely jerks.
