Wow, we're on another page.

I'm hoping the fact that my computer is running not-so fast tonight isn't a major issue. I wanted to do a system restore, but it won't allow it - grr ...

LIT did make some important changes to my life. My romantic life - nope. My lack of a romantic life is a simple fact - I've been alone for a very long time and I have found NO prospects. The attractive women I do meet are so very much younger than I. They're not going to go out with a 50-plus man and I'd feel like a fool asking.

I've met lovely and attractive women on LIT - all of whom lived in the US or the UK or Europe. I started out in one thread and found a woman who lived very close - only to find out mid-way through the thread that she had died in an accident.

Were my fortunes to change, so too, might my love life. Currently, with circumstances being as they are, I don't foresee it. I'm not being negative - just pragmatic. Getting myself jacked up on false hope is something I can't deal with any longer.

My newest is now posted, for those who read my stuff. It's been a while, but I thought this piece turned out nicely.

If the Champagne doesn't come from France, it's just sparkling wine. LOL

France it is !

Just tell me what kind to pick up and consider it done RJ. House party in the Bistro tonight !!

Congrats to T4T. May you have a long and healthy life so that you can watch him turn into a wonderful young man with his own family.

I am not that much of a wine snob - and folks, remember, I'm still the host of the Bistro - but I think we might have a bottle of Dom around, although I think Mum's is almost as nice.

Got a few nice fan letters today, including a very flirty one. I found myself wondering if someone's out there informing LITsters of my existence. If so, thanks. The one letter was rather risque (other one was from a guy)

Best Champagne I ever had was at a wedding. We in the wedding party had Chateau Lafite Rothschild: $800/bottle, and we sipped six of them over the course of the reception and after-party.

I've heard that. I like champagne, don't love it. I like red wines - Bourdeax and Burgundy. I used to co-invest with a friend in "wine futures". You buy wine bottled in a certain year - say 2015 - before it matures - say in 2020. When you buy a bottle (you usually buy it by the case) it might cost a certain price - say, $20 per bottle - and it is perfectly nice wine at the time. However, the premise is that when it matures - say in 2020 - it will be a much better wine and retail for $50 a bottle. You can keep the case or save it for resale, like stock. And, like stock, it can devalue if it turns out the wine didn't live up to expectations. I drank a few very nice bottles during the time I did that with my friend.

Awesome Thanks. I haven't even had champagne in years. I was out of state at new Years and celebrating my twin sister and family. My Mom even sipped a glass. I don't recall the brand but it was good and we emptied 6 or so bottles. Nice memories. Only time I ever saw my Mom drink an alcoholic beverage. She is and was a Pepsi gal. That stuff she drinks by the case.

Yeah, I drink Pepsi as well T4T, bought a bunch yesterday (on sale) and will likely grab more tonight. Although every so often, I will have a Coke, just for the change in taste. I will be drinking Coke tonight, as the restaurant I am going to (fish and chips, major craving) doesn't have Pepsi and I think Diet Coke is Bat Piss. Oddly, as I think I mentioned earlier, I like Cherry Coke and had it yesterday.

I'm a Pepper!

I can remember the first time I had Dr Pepper:

July 4, 1979, Tampa Stadium, Tampa FL
Tampa Bay Rowdies vs Rochester Lancers
North American Soccer League

Before the game, the team had a food promotion: Buy 4 sodas/hot dogs/popcorn for a quarter. They ran out of Pepsi, so they gave us Dr Pepper. I was hooked!!

At this point, I'm the only person in the family drinking pop/soda. And I only drink it if we go to a fast food place. Otherwise it's water or unsweetened tea for all of us. If we do go fast food, it's either Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Diet Dew, Diet Dr Pepper or water. Can't stand Diet Pepsi or any of the other ones.

My son got the pellet gun out the other day and shot up the last 2 cans of Pepsi that were in the fridge so there would be no temptations.

I had a Dr. Pepper earlier today - I seem to be on a "cherry / cherry flavored" binge. Odd thing is, cherry-flavored stuff never really tastes like cherries - it tastes like cherry flavoring. I also had a Cherry Crush (I'd never seen it before) and bought another can of Cherry Coke for later in the week.

I don't really remember when Dr. Pepper showed up here - not in my "kid" days. I'm thinking sometime in the 1970's. BTW, the "Pepper" campaign was the brainchild of some guy who wrote a lot of jingles. I don't think anything ever became of him, although he also wrote "Join the Pepsi People" and "You Deserve a Break today" and one they still use today "I am Stuck on Bandaids". Too bad his career as a songwriter and musician went nowhere. His name is Barry Manilow.

I had some cool Tees and still have a few - haven't worn them this summer, oddly enough. More sports shirts than not.

I had a few nice shirts I wish I still had, because they'd fit again. A few "Charlies Angels" or "Farrah" shirts, one of which I never saw again. It was a very pretty image with a green background and Farrah, with a rose in her hair.
