Nope. Any mom/son story from a reasonably popular author can break 1k votes in 24 hours without even trying.

SSL is the #1 favorited author on the site right now, so that in 3 days isn't remotely surprising.

Part of me says it has more to do with the category and her blatant story titles.

Me too. But If I were looking for some "relief", I'm sure these titles would be the first things to draw me in. TBH, that's the first thing to draw me to Literotica.

This is the fastest a story of mine has hit a 100,000 reads in under two days.
But it is a mixture of a few things I believe in this order:
1. The incest category and even more importantly the Mom in backseat plot... I don't know why but it is the most popular incest concept out there...albeit not remotely original (although I did have fun writing it)
2. Titles matter. All my most popular stories have, as was mentioned, blatant titles. It is what gets them to click on my story instead of maybe another.
3. Having a full day at the top of page 1 helps too.
4. Having a story a week, I have built up a fan base that read all my stories (or most of them)... this takes a couple of years. (I still respond to 95% of my e-mails and use twitter to announce new releases)
5. Wednesday's are, for some reason, often the most read day i find.
6.Tags are important (although this is more long term impact).

Interestingly, my anal story that was released a day later has a higher score, but way less reads and votes.. although a lot more votes than usual as well... this contest seems to have people voting more.

Anyways, good luck to everyone...

All good points especially #2. I tend to avoid "porno" titles, just because I let my taste as a reader influence my writing. I write what I want more than what I think others do.

Titles are probably the most important means of attracting readers to a story in a particular category.

They don't need to be original. They do need to reflect the story.

I write a variety of stories.
Some I call stroke stories, some are fan requests, some are illustrated which are a different challenge, some are lengthy with massive plot and character and others are somewhat run of the mill I suppose.

That said, the most read stories are often not the most brilliant plot wise or character wise.

That also said, most of my highest scored stories (long term) are the ones that are best written and more than just stroke stories...

Silky is absolutely right about the backseat stories! In fact 2 of the top 9 “most viewed” stories on LITEROTICA have this subject. Years ago when the second of them (Sitting on Mom’s Lap) came out I actually complained that I thought it had stolen too much from the first and should have been removed from the site.

When I read silky’s one yesterday I again had a sense of déjà vue and did go back and compare it to the two other ones. Again it seemed to me just a little too close to the others. Perhaps hers too will join the 'most read' all time list someday...

Maybe we should make it a future contest subject and see how it does...

I don’t blame our #1 most favorite though - it is one of the problems of a site that generates so many stories – too often the same subjects and situations come up again and again. I suggest you try all three of them and compare how these three authors handled the subject and see which one you prefer...

You might be right. he hasn't posted a story to Lit in what, 2 1/2-3 years but he maintains the 7th place on the favorites list. Funny thing is, he always gets just enough favorites every day to stay exactly 50 above the guy below him. Been that way for over a year now.

Funny things happen around him all the time and i don't mean funny, ha ha.

Don't feel bad, in the past I have referred to them as "Pure porno" titles.

But it is a formula to get the most attention and that is the only way we get paid here. And looking at her insane numbers she has it down to a science.

My personal style and what I enjoy causes me to not succumb to it and just get whatever traffic I get doing it my way.

You can have stroky titles without being totally out there my "Sharing Mom with dad" tells you the story is not high literature, nor is My Mother is Horny Drunk

But where I think it can hurt is people do judge and I have found Silk's stories to have more depth by far then the titles indicate.

Whereas another author here has more serious titles, but writes nothing but pure stroke porn where every woman is nothing but a pair of breasts and three holes with legs, but they are very popular.

My only try so far at the multi-chapter story here had the predictable decrease in views from Chap 1 thru 5. For Chapter 6 I abandoned the accurate but non-titilating descriptions each chapter had received and went with the still accurate but more marketable/explicit " 'Daddy' and 'daughter' hot tub fun. Sister gets a creampie."
The description was even singled out for mild ridicule in another thread.
Chapter 6 has more views than all but Chap 1, double the views of Chap 4 and 5. And that wasn't a different title, just the description changed.
It works, for views at least.

And agreed on Silkstockinglover's ability to tell a story, Dog. Her kinks aren't always my kinks, but I enjoy her stories. They usually have imagination and depth to the characters and setting that the title doesn't always convey.
