I had this happen to me back in July, early-mid. In one case I had to try 3-4 times. In one other case, what Og said happened - the database unavailable error message came up but in fact my poem had been queued up. It may be that this is a consequence of very high traffic? Dunno. It was a bit of a nuissance but it cleared up eventually.

I've gotten that the last three times I've submitted. Not long after that they went through--but it zeroed out the submission and everything had to be keyed in again.

And while I'm at it, I guess the contest perk of being posted the next day has gone by the boards. That hasn't happened for me the last two out of three contests.

Fewer and fewer reasons to bother with the contests.

Nope, when I checked, it wasn't there. This isn't like the error message the system was giving before where it had gone through, just claimed it hadn't. This time it says the database isn't available to submissions, and it's telling the truth.

My first one gave me the data base message but it was there when I looked at my story list. The second went through with no problem. The three before my contest story went through with no problem. So one out of five for me.

It's in! Had the error message a couple more times, but I checked the submissions list to confirm it wasn't there. Eventually went through a couple of hours ago.

Have no idea what Laurel will think of it. (It did occur to me, she may transfer it to Celebrities.) Or what anyone else will think. As I said, it's niche, and the theme connection isn't great.

Is it the one the other author posted "DB is not available. Please retry later." or something else?

I want to try to track down the problem, but I can't reproduce it here, so any extra info that you (and others) have about this error would be appreciated.

I now have 08/26/15 with pending in black (no link) so I'll watch for it tomorrow. Someone mentioned the date and delayed release thing on another thread, but it's the first time I've seen it.

I just submitted one a few minutes ago and got the DB is not available. It's a plain white page with a single line of text at the top. I used the back button in my browser and returned to my story, loaded into the tool. I hit submit again and it went through. This happened to me just now, and two nights ago when I submitted another story.

Yes, that's the message, and when I then go to the author's page, it hasn't registered (others here say it has for them). Ten minutes or thirty minutes later it goes through--but I have to fill in the submissions form again. It has happened on the last three entries I've submitted over a three-week period.

Likewise here. Three days from submission to posting for a contest story this time--a day longer than if I'd submitted it to the regular file.

It happens after I click 'submit.'

But luckily, all I have to do is click the page refresh button and the story submits just fine.

Not sure whether it's the contest or what, but I'm getting an excellent ratio of reads to votes: 35.5 or so. My overall average is around 170, so I'm getting about 5X more votes than expected. Is anyone else getting a lot more votes than usual?

Yes, now that you mention it. Heading for 300 votes in 1.5 days, although my ratio is not quite as good as yours. I'm at a loss to explain it.
