I miss driving a stick shift

5 of my last 6 cars had manual transmissions. I don't miss the automatic.

The six speed manual in the P was kind of a pain during the rush hour commutes to and from the office, but since I don't have to mess with that any more, it's all good. I'm old school - don't care for the paddle shifters, but love a stick. However the truck is auto, and that suits me just fine as well, especially when towing or hauling. The jeep has three on the floor, with high and low and a gear splitter overdrive, so essentially a 12-speed :D.

None of you has a fucking clue.

Most manual transmissions are shit, unfortunately.

I can't think of a near flawless manual transmission since the firstgen mazda miata.

I drive a Taurus and it's an automatic but I can go into "S" and manually shift gears if I want. Sort of cool but I never use it.

Learned to drive with a manual and I enjoy it still but with traffic and such...my left leg would hate me. I actually had to get rid of a manual once because I broke my left foot and couldn't drive it with a cast.

In my part of the world they prefer you stay under 80 so liftoff is not a big problem.

Not so much the liftoff, as it is watching your own ass pass you going around a corner... well, okay, maybe it is the liftoff. But the other issue is where would you stick the intercooler?

A DE at the track doesn't require you to stay under 80. And if you did, you'd get run over.

Give me an old British 2 seater anytime.
