At first

The TIMES said it was highly edited and illegal

They finally admit that all the tapes and the whole tapes were available from the start

NOW they say that they endorse the taping of such activity for all to see!

New York Times Supports Secret Videos–Against Animal Industries

The New York Times has editorialized in favor of secret video taping of animal industries and the overturning of a law that made surreptitious video-taping of ag industries a crime.

From,“Exposing Abuse on the Factory Farm:” In a country that lavishes love and legal protections on house pets, factory *farmed animals are left out in the cold, exempt from almost all animal cruelty laws. As a result they suffer torture and other mistreatment to a degree that is hard to imagine. The only way to make it stop is to ensure that Americans can see for themselves what goes on behind the factory doors.

Wow, then they must also approve of the video taping of Planned Parenthood.

Of course they don’t!

From, “The Campaign of Deception Against Planned Parenthood:” The Center for Medical Progress video campaign is a dishonest attempt to make legal, voluntary and potentially lifesaving tissue donations appear nefarious and illegal. Lawmakers responding by promoting their own anti-choice agenda are rewarding deception and putting women’s health and their constitutionally protected rights at risk. Why the difference?

I guess the definitions of “cruelty” and “deception” depend on whose ox–or fetus–is being gored.

Let us know when animals are guaranteed a right to privacy, meaning the law says that they can not be filmed secretly.
Nobody is secretly filming the fetuses, "Not Busybody"

I'll take false equivalencies for $1000 Alex!

Their hypocrisy is thick and easy to see.

This is why FOX debates get 24 million viewers and Jon's bye bye gets three million.

Cecil is more important than Cecile (and both have to be buried).

:)

They were people in the vids of the animals

Sometimes its better to shut up and not act the fool

The difference being, those tapes of the animal cruelty actually showed criminal activity.

Were there laws in the state the filming was done that makes filming people without their knowledge illegal? Does it have an exception for filming a crime in progress?

What laws has Planned Parenthood broken again?

Oh right.. None.

I pointed out a few

And I never asserted it was about that

And as the Times is, your hypocrisy is expectef

No, there have been no proven allegations of criminal activity, at least not on the part of Planned Parenthood. California would like to have a word with those who may have broken their law about secretly filming people.

If LiveAction had proof of criminal activity they would not have sat on the footage for over a year and then released a heavily edited "documentary" under the name of a previously non-existent entity. They did so because they have no credibility and there is no criminal activity other than possibly their own.

does it really matter to you?

its OK and LAUDABLE to secretly VIDEO cruelty to animals but ILLEGAL to do so against cruelty to BABIES

I know what you will say, so dont bother

I'll put this here just in case you want to read the article you posted.

The Campaign of Deception Against Planned Parenthood

A hidden-camera video released last week purported to show that Planned Parenthood illegally sells tissue from aborted fetuses. It shows nothing of the sort. But it is the latest in a series of unrelenting attacks on Planned Parenthood, which offers health care services to millions of people every year. The politicians howling to defund Planned Parenthood care nothing about the truth here, being perfectly willing to undermine women’s reproductive rights any way they can.

The nine-minute video clip released by the Center for Medical Progress, an outfit apparently created in 2013, invites viewers to “Hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their illegal sale of baby parts.” In it, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, is seen discussing the collection of fetal tissue in a lunch meeting with two people posing as potential tissue buyers. A second video, released on Tuesday, shows another Planned Parenthood staff member discussing fetal tissue.

After the first video’s release, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky pledged to “introduce an amendment to pending Senate legislation to immediately strip every dollar of Planned Parenthood funding.” Senator Ted Cruz of Texas called for defunding and for “an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale and transfer of aborted body parts.” The House Energy and Commerce Committee is undertaking an investigation, and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana have ordered investigations in their states.

The full video of the lunch meeting, over two hours long and released by the Center for Medical Progress, shows something very different from what these critics claim. Clearly, the shorter version was edited to eliminate statements by Dr. Nucatola explaining that Planned Parenthood does not profit from tissue donation, which requires the clear consent of the patient. Planned Parenthood affiliates only accept money — between $30 and $100 per specimen, according to Dr. Nucatola — to cover costs associated with collecting and transporting the tissue. “This is not something with any revenue stream that affiliates are looking at,” she said. Under federal law, facilities may be reimbursed for costs associated with fetal tissue donation, like transportation and storage.

According to a letter sent by Roger Evans, a lawyer for Planned Parenthood, to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the video is a result of a yearslong campaign of deception. The head of the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden, created a fake company called Biomax Procurement Services almost three years ago for the purpose of tricking Planned Parenthood employees, the letter alleges, even setting up exhibits at Planned Parenthood’s national conferences. The letter also says Biomax offered a Planned Parenthood affiliate $1,600 for a fetal liver and thymus, presumably to trap the affiliate in the act of accepting a high payment for fetal tissue. The affiliate declined.

In a statement on its website, the Center for Medical Progress says it “follows all applicable laws in the course of our investigative journalism work.”

Anti-abortion groups have long pushed to defund Planned Parenthood, even though no federal money is used to provide abortions. But that hasn’t stopped their efforts to shut down the clinics, which provide services like contraception, cancer screening and other tests.

The Center for Medical Progress — which managed to get tax-exempt status in 2013 as a biomedicine charity, according to a report by The Huffington Post — appears to have done little beyond producing the undercover video. According to its registration form with the California attorney general, it has three officers: Mr. Daleiden; Albin Rhomberg, who has participated in anti-abortion protests; and Troy Newman, the president of the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue.

^^^^^someone should notify the IRS ;)

In a statement last week, Cecile Richards, the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said that “our donation programs — like any other high-quality health care providers — follow all laws and ethical guidelines” and that “Planned Parenthood stands behind our work to help women and families donate tissue for medical research when they wish to.”

Researchers use fetal tissue to study and develop treatments for diseases and conditions like H.I.V., hepatitis, congenital heart defects, retinal degeneration and Parkinson’s. Last year, the National Institutes of Health gave $76 million in grants for fetal tissue research. Planned Parenthood is certainly not the only collector of fetal tissue — clinics associated with universities also supply tissue for research.

The Center for Medical Progress video campaign is a dishonest attempt to make legal, voluntary and potentially lifesaving tissue donations appear nefarious and illegal. Lawmakers responding by promoting their own anti-choice agenda are rewarding deception and putting women’s health and their constitutionally protected rights at risk.

We've shown the math as to how they profit from these procedures.

We've also shown the dodge behind this lie.

As the middle-man in this transaction, they take "beef" which they get at very low cost, store it in cold storage and then tack on $350 in storage and handling fees before "providing" it to a third party who is the actual "buyer." It does not cost $350 to store and handle such tiny bits of kobe beef.

Planned Parenthood has not done anything that is illegal. End of story.

illegal <> abhorrent and morally unjustifiable given the lack of any productive research based on fetal cells.

The gains have been made in adult stem cell research. They're more stable andless prone to cancers and other run-away processes.

Abhorrent and morally unjustifiable in your opinion.

If this faux outrage were actually about Planned Parenthood providing fetal tissue for research then you outraged mobsters, I mean concerned citizens , would petition Congress to simply reinstate the ban they lifted in 1993.

But it's not, and you aren't.

This is about anti-abortionists like yourself trying to manufacture a "serious charge" where no crime exists to shut down Planned Parenthood. Period.

Charging a reasonable fee for procurement, storage, and delivery is allowed by law.

Fail.

I find it to be neither. I've a donor card DL. Why is it abhorrent and morally unjustified?

Abortion is dehumanization to justify murder. The right to life is our most fundamental right, without which, no other rights follow and thus the only privileges we have are those that hold power allow us, and it can be changed on a whim. The only hard and fast, verifiable metric by which to define life is conception, everything else, a sliding scale in which science has nothing to do with, it is the internal contemplation of "What do I think" (translation: "What do I feel) so while one subset amy speak in terms of trimester or number of weeks, another speaks of ability to feel pain and another speaks of viability and at the far extreme of the left's spectrum, we have the intellectual who point out that being born does not indicate "viability."

It logical terms, it follows thus, if conception is not the beginning of life, then the beginning of life can be defined as anything:

There is black and white, and if you refuse to believe that, then you will accept grey and let me tell you gray tends to black for when you say ∃ of anything is a good function of government then ∃ is everything ¬∀ and while you may be able to advocate for ∃ you won't be allowed to define it and in this manner its limit will be ∀ for f(∪∃)i [i=from you to the total population] will never tend to ∅ by definition so it is easy to see that it is, indeed, an ∀ or ∅ when it comes to government. (Now, the f(∩∃)i [i=from you to the total population] will tend to ∅ but that is politically unattainable for the obvious reason that the more ∃ is defined, the smaller the ∩∃ becomes.)
A_J, the Stupid

If we will not stand for the life of the most helpless, then by degrees, we accept an expanding definition of helpless which cuts across all age boundaries from conception to death by using the viability and quality of life arguments. In the last century, mankind has already journeyed into than Kantian Nihilism.

The results were not pretty.

I disagree.......the end.

Nationally syndicated columnist Ruben Navarette writes frequently about politics and immigration. But in 30 years of writing, he says he has never written about abortion.

Until now.

Chalk Navarette up as one who has been mugged by the reality of the Planned Parenthood videos. Considering himself pro-choice for 30 years, Navarette has been profoundly affected by the videos and is questioning the entire philosophy that led him to embrace the pro-choice position.

David Daleiden, head of the Center for Medical Progress, issued an unsurprisingly stronger statement: “Planned Parenthood’s system-wide conspiracy to evade the law and make money off of aborted fetal tissue is now undeniable. Anyone who watches these videos knows that Planned Parenthood is engaged in barbaric practices and human rights abuses that must end.”

I agree with that assessment, and I’m pro-choice. At least I thought I was until recently. These days, each time, I express concern, outrage, disgust or horror over another video—which should come with warnings that they may produce nightmares — some supporter of the organization responds by attacking me and insisting that I was never really pro-choice to begin with.

Defenders of Planned Parenthood are trying to deflect criticism away from the organization and onto those who produced the videos. In the minds of true believers, those are the real culprits—guilty of releasing illegally obtained and “heavily edited” videos with the intent of destroying a valuable organization that provides essential health services to millions of women. The organization has hired an expensive Washington DC-based PR firm to do damage control, and the firm quickly tried to pressure television networks to stop airing the videos.

[...]

Over time, I made refinements — going along with waiting periods and parental notification laws at the state level, and coming out against the barbaric practice known as partial birth abortion.

As I’ve only realized lately, to be a man, and to declare yourself pro-choice, is to proclaim your neutrality. And, as I’ve only recently been willing to admit, even to myself, that’s another name for “wimping out.”

At least that’s how my wife sees it. She’s pro-life, and so she’s been tearing into me every time a new video is released. She’s not buying my argument that, as a man, I have to defer to women and trust them to make their own choices about what to do with their bodies. To her, that’s ridiculous—and cowardly.

“You can’t stand on the sidelines, especially now that you've seen these videos,” she told me recently. “That’s bullshit! These are babies that are being killed. Millions of them. And you need to use your voice to protect them. That’s what a man does. He protects children—his own children, and other children. That’s what it means to be a man.”

Navarette calls the videos a "game changer." It won't be for the radicals on the forefront of the pro-choice movement. But for those who are nominally pro-choice like Navarette, I'm sure there are many who are rethinking their support of both Planned Parenthood and on-demand abortions.

Of course your outrage is equally shared with Liveaction who had evidence of this supposed "abhorrent & morally unjustifiable" action and did nothing about it for a year, right?
