The Official Author's Hangout 2015 Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread

One down, two to go! The first one was 92 Word pages, but I'm hoping I can keep the others fairly short. We'll see.

I have two started, but I'm not feeling anything right now. Tried fiddling with some non-contest stories, thinking the deadline pressure might be stifling me, but that's obviously not it.

I've just got nothing at the moment. Guess I'll work on my quarterly track instead.

Back above the scumbag's fake contest thread.

Finally got something moving in this name, and while it's not a contest story, it has the same world setting of one of them I've started, so that might be a jumping off point to get that longer, contest-themed story moving.

It's called, "Little Fuckers" LOL The contest story is "A Wee Push"

Well, it seems if you did less spurting, you'd be more fit for writing.

I couldn't resist. :)

Someone had to do it. ;)

I've been writing on a few old stories but haven't gotten my mind back on the bicycle story. It's been an interest couple of days. Lots of R/L getting in the way also.

That one story is still working so far. The setup is pretty much done.

Sparking the contest story that shares the same setting as well. Need to tweak the opening just a little. I think that's what was stalling that one out.

One story out of my mind. Not for the contest though. Probably the shortest I've ever written.

Maybe now i can get back to my Summer story.

After the night we had last night, I'll take the easy road and give this thread a bump. :)

I need beta readers. Been asking around for ages but no one's really come through.
:(

I've been lucky lately with some recent and older penpals, but it's usually difficult for me, too. Even when I can find them, they're oftentimes too vague or too slow to be of much use. I definitely wouldn't mind a more permanent beta buddy. Just looking at your stories, though, it certainly doesn't look like you need much more help. You're doing quite well already!

I think I may have finished my entry! (Mind you, I did start it for last year's contest.)

Better late than never, Sam. I hope it does well in the contest.

My own entry is still in the rewrite stage (I have a bad habit of rewriting stories at least three times before I seem to be satisfied) but I should be able to finish it in time.

I like the contests because they keep me on track, without a deadline my stories seem to spin out of control indefinitely.

I posted my Earth Day story late this year, but I already have the characters and the central plot element of honeybees nailed down for next year's, which I hope to actually have out in advance of Earth Day.

Not having a contest for it doesn't mean there's not still a readership for it.

As an added bonus, you don't have the OCD "must winners" mucking with the thing when it posts.

I have a couple finished and will post them next year whether there is a contest for them or not. I find the subject interesting enough to still do stories. Sex and cleaning up the earth seem to go hand in hand to me.

Welcome to the one and only real contest this time of year.
