I haven't had either in a really long time, but given the option, I'd go with the pies. Just last week, I had a version of sorts of the lemon pie from a Filipino bakery. Close enough to have me remembering eating far too many Hostess pies as a kid.
 
I think there needs to be a word for "the kind of thing the past dreamed about as being awesomely fucking rad and futuristic and life-changing, but when it arrives in its actual form is largely mundane and of at best niche interest."

The Lexus hoverboard being, while legitimately impressive, still a prime example.

I nominate futurosaic.

I second the nomination. I always say "retrofuture" but find it lacking.

The English language needs futurosaic.

Jet packs are on the list too.
 
It blows my mind how many people want free computer help.

I get paid very well to fix them, why would I do it for free?

I just had really painful dental work done, there wasn't an option to ask that the Dentist do the work for free just cause I asked really nice.

It's amazing. People do the same thing with physicians.

They'll casually mention that they've got some medical problem with the subtle expectation that they're going to get medical advice.

It happens in other fields, as well. Just because someone is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives doesn't mean they have any power to implement your crackpot idea about how to solve all the world's problems.

I get it all the time in my field as well.
 
Its times like this I wish I was a druggie.

The newspaper said that the synthetic marijuana made you not feel pain. I need to find that stuff.
