I'm having a little computer issue and would really appreciate some help. When I turned it on today there was a black screen and an error message that said "boot from cd: no Bootable portion in table". Does anyone know how to fix this?

Take the cd out of the tray.

Is it a Mac? If not open the nearest window on the highest level possible and heave it.

You're welcome.

I looks as if your boot record on the hard drive might have been wiped. It was looking for a CD to boot from so you could fix it.
If you have a boot cd, put it in the cd and the machine will boot from that and should do a repair of the hard drive automatically.

If it doesn't, then click the link to repair your operating system on the cd screen.

Probably clear as mud. Huh?

Your master boot record is fucked or your hard drive is fucked.
But more information is really needed. OS, how many hard drives, what other media, etc.

get into your BIOS

Change the boot order to indicate your hard drive
That won't do any good if there's no removable media. Unless the hard drive is disabled.
