I fear you really have missed the point. Was Jesus "target market" the rich. The woman at the well certainly wasn't wealthy. Mary Magdalene certainly was not the upper echelon of society. The poor, the blind the lame the downtrodden, those were Jesus' peeps. Remember anything of the beatitudes? "The meek shall inherit the earth...." Sound familiar? "It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven....."
No, please fear that YOU have missed the point. I am a Christian and I believe what the Bible says. However, I am solely speaking of the church and its followers. I'm also taking how the brain works and applying it to why people are so drawn to the church. Why can we not stick to the point being made instead of referencing a Bible which has zero to do with what I said?
Do you disagree with me that the church and organized religion is corrupt? Do you see why people like me fear to step foot in a church because we will judged by an entire assembly of people as we step foot through the door? Do you understand why children like me sat alone in church groups because out of the many many other Christians there, no one person left their clique to even consider talking to me?
The church is what keeps me from even attempting anymore. It's not God. It's not Jesus. It's the church. It's the followers. So my thought process was, "What keeps these people coming back?" Well, to be frank, church is like a living soap opera. Emotions run high, people get sudden bursts of dopamine when they are shown affection and attention, and then they all say it's God. They say it's God giving them love and affection when they have their friends all sitting right next to them.
No matter what you believe, the church is not representative of God nor will it ever be. Even churches are disassociating with one another. This church is Baptist, this church is Pentecostal, and of course, we have the Non-Denominational Church. They take no sides, right? Wrong. I was told I was going to hell because I had the Baptist belief that once-saved, always-saved mentality. Well gee.... I guess being born and taught that makes me a bad, terrible person then huh? I wonder which denomination is going to heaven? I hope I chose correctly.
Scientific Theory is no more FACT than an observation of the world through a Christian's eyes is accepted as FACT. It is still an observation based on a hypothesis. Even Darwin, with his limited resources and scientific methods said, "iF IT COULD BE DEMONSTRATED THAT ANY COMPLEX ORGAN EXISTED, WHICH COULD NOT POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN FORMED BY NUMEROUS, SUCCESSIVE, SLIGHT MODIFICATIONS, MY THEORY WOULD ABSOLUTELY BREAK DOWN." We choose to extoll the virtues of science and its infallibility. Yet, physical science cannot wholly PROVE evolution nor creation. It can only attempt to EXPLAIN in a manner that people find convenient.
Basically what I think is that it's understandable to be an atheist. It makes the most sense. I'm not even talking about evolution. It doesn't matter. I don't care to argue this point because I'm not atheist.
