It's a good question. No one has ever contacted me via PM expressing concern about Mike or to show me information.

It's a little like Busybody. A few years back before people put him on Ignore, there used to be loads of posts about his used of the n-word, how he might shoot a Black person someday, etc. Yet no one contacted me privately.

When we first started the site back in '99, I'd never done anything like this before. And I'd get really stressed when people would post public criticisms of/complaints about site. I would immediately PM the person making the complaint, seeking clarification and trying to help. And I was dumbfounded when I'd receive no reply - until finally one day I found a terse answer from a user in my inbox: "Why are you PMing to me about this?"

Talking to other people who moderate communities, I discovered this is pretty much how it is. I realized that if people have a genuine concern about something, they will message us directly. If they're posting about it in public, they aren't expecting a reply or resolution.

So this may be what's happening here. In which case, I'm going to go do more productive/fun things. If the situation changes or someone feels there is reason to be genuinely concerned, please do PM me.
