This is the future of abortion that the anti-choice crowd longs for

I thought the pro life side was all for people having babies, even if they are the product of rape or incest, or is that the militant extremist sub set of the pro life group that kills to protect life?. Fuck it I be so confused, I need a beer.

here's the thing dumbasses

there are states that are trying to pass abortion laws that would make it illegal even for a rape victim to have an abortion unless they could prove it was a rape

by this very standard.. the girl here in question would have been ineligible for abortion

So the only option is that she gets her ass kicked? Again, this is a perfect example of fallacious arguments and reasoning. You argue a point that truly doesn't exist. In no way was this about abortion, yet you politicize a tragedy for that point.

But surely the point is that they weren't just beating her up - they were attempting to induce abortion? And that, just as before Roe v Wade when thousands of abortions were induced with scalding baths, jumping down stairs, vigorous exercise, coathangers, etc, etc, we can expect to see more of this sort of extreme, violent behaviour as the laws against abortion become more and more stringent.

You can't stop abortion. You can make it legal, illegal or some halfway house between the two, but people will DIY it if they have to. Certainly in Britain, the 1967 Abortion Act was passed not in some moral progressive fervour, but out of horror at the number of deaths and injuries caused by women attempting to get rid of their unwanted foetus.

Rape, incest and protecting the mothers life are the only times abortions should be an option. 95+% of all abortions are done because people have consensual sex, protection fails and they don't want the child.

Did you know everytime you stick your cock in a vagina there is a chance for pregnancy? I am as shocked as you but it's true. If you don't want the risk of a child, don't stick it in. If you think you can accept the remote possibility, then fuck away.

While they were attempting to induce an abortion, the incident was about trying to protect a relative from a rape charge. It didn't matter if abortion was legal or not. Making this about availability of an abortion is silly.

Why are you allowing those exceptions? If life is precious and all babies have the right to be born, what difference does the mode of conception matter?

Thank you.

This was my exact point. Of course they were kicking the shit out of her to give her an abortion. But that's exactly why this isn't a matter that has anything to do with abortion. Abortion is legal and this happened. The only way this could have MAYBE been linked to the legality of abortion if this happened after abortion was made illegal. This isn't a matter of a girl wishing to abort her unborn child/fetus.

The original poster is a typical extremist.

Well, if one argues that it's a matter of saving lives and that's truly where the person's belief lies, then one should be willing to save the lives where possible. I'm not pro-abortion, obviously. But I would concede rape and incest cases, less than 1% of abortion cases, in order to spare 99%.

However, too many people are stubborn and make abortion a matter of politics and say all or none and it keeps people from having reasonable conversations about it.

The story says they beat her to prevent a family member from getting in trouble for rape so I have to agree with everyone else in saying you definitely used the wrong story to prove a point. Not only is abortion legal but even if it wasn't, she still would have been able to get one.

I feel the need to correct both of you on the fact that abortion was not legal in this case.

Most likely one of the most tragic results of progressivism as the politcal/cultural/economic disease it has become in the USSA today is the chronic existence of relativism that virtually every progressive is afflicted with...

...sadly, for the overall fate of objectivity, I have yet to see a secular cure.

Gotta push that theocracy eh athiest?? LOL what a clown.

Yea but they haven't and she was eligible for an abortion if she had just gone down and made an appointment with a doctor to get one (unthinkable inconvenience for you I know but that's how we do shit here in the US).

So be it money or shame this would have happened even if abortions were legal, because they are legal and it still happened, which kinda shits all over the point you're trying to make.

It's not legal for a 14 to walk in and get an abortion in Texas.

It's not legal for a 14 to walk in and do just about anything....minors are minors. Even schools need permission to take them to a museum.

However with a parent/legal guardians consent they can do damn near anything an adult can, even booze it up and yes unless you know otherwise get an abortion too. At least they could, girl I went to HS with in Ft.Worth didn't have a problem getting one back in the 90's and she was about the same age. But laws change, so....anyone know of an 18 and up only, no exceptions rule on abortions in TX??

They even have a sliding scale cost program to help broke ass's get them....this violent attack was unnecessary and had fuck all to do with abortion law.

Then we're in agreement that in this case abortion was not a legal option for the 14 year old.

Actually, it was technically an option available. Those involved chose not to pursue that option though.

I would love to see your evidence that this 14 year old, on her on, chose not to seek any medical advice about her options.

Looking forward to it.

This^^

It's a point blank case of kids are totally subject to the parent/legal guardians rule.

The guardians in this case CHOSE to give her a backyard beat down instead of a doctors appointment. Not a case of "oh we have no other option" as BBS is trying to portray it for her absurd abortion law ideas. That's like choosing to do at home surgery instead of going to the hospital...it doesn't have shit to do with the restrictions of abortion that MIGHT come to some states.

OK, let's see your evidence that shows in Texas it's legal for a 14 year old to get an abortion on her own.

I didn't say that. I said it was an option available. Clearly, it was. I doubt she knew about it though. Ignorance of the option doesn't mean it wasn't one legally available.

You're playing semantics. Getting one on her own isn't an option. Having her parents/legal guardians take her for one is an available option.

That's all that is being said.
