Sadly it is not the voice of experience, my son has grown up children from his ex and I have only seen them once. (They live in the Philippines) I have certainly observed the special relationship that people have with grand children, and it usually goes both ways.

yeah, I used to read at stoplights until I did a couple of meditation retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh. These were silent retreats and part of the discipline was leaving our distractions behind, and focusing on mindfulness. Those experiences confirmed my suspicious that my book a day habit was in some ways a retreat from my own reality rather simply embracing other realities. I'm still a big reader [the joke when I was growing up was that I'd read the labels on cans if there was nothing else available]. But I'm also trying to just sit and BE with my monkey mind sometimes.
