girls and women rescued from boko haran

I heard it this morning.

Good news.

I hope they find those other girls, too.

me too. it's good to hear about the progress the nigerian army have made clearing the boko haram out of the territories.
Many have escaped or been released as Boko Haram has fled a multinational offensive that began at the end of January.

Earlier this month, rights group Amnesty International published a report saying that the armed group has abducted at least 2,000 women and girls since the start of 2014.

Boko Haram has used girls and women as suicide bombers, sending them into crowded market places and elsewhere.

A month ago the Nigerian military began pounding the Sambisa Forest in air raids, an assault they said earlier they had been avoiding for fear of killing the Chibok schoolgirls, or inciting their captors to kill them.

Two weeks ago, counterinsurgency spokesman Mike Omeri said a multinational offensive that began at the end of January had driven Boko Haram from all major towns in the northeast and that Nigerian forces were concentrating on the stronghold in the Sambisa Forest.

Did you ever read Ayaan Hirsi Ali's book "Infidel"?

It's a really scary look at this area of the world and practices.

No, they are thought to maybe contain 'some' of the Chibok people. And that will be a good thing. I think some of them have indeed been located but source reports say checking is only at the beginning of the process.

I kept getting emails from those dudes telling me they have $50,000,000 and a bunch of wives left me in the Estate of Arthur Mobutu.

I claimed the money and told them they cut cut the grrls loose.

Yeah, it is painful. Worth reading though. She has a foundation now to help prevent genital mutilation and other abuses.
i have to pace myself with anything that brutal to read... stays with me for a long time, and i'm only reading it. i have such admiration for women who survive and go on to help others - it means they didn't win. the human spirit can be quite something.

Two good reads then, when and if - that one or any other book by her, and "Unorthodox" by Deborah Feldman, a woman who left the Hasid community in Brooklyn.

They're worth it, both ladies do not go for the sympathy, but go for the education.

the fragil strength of the human spirit.

it makes me wonder how many more women and children are out there.

Thats great news!

Bunch of fucking savages over there.

yes, it is -now let's hope they find more of the rest of the 2000kidnapped last year alone.

no, there are good, decent people as well as power-hungry murderous bastards who see people only as another tool in their box. you can't tar them all with the same brush, here, there, or anywhere.

Butters spends a LOT of timing reading about the sexual abuse of children.

I guess they're her Harlequin Romances.

i know. it is mind daunting. i do not understand that dark space of the human psyche, that justifies such horrors.
