BTW:
Since I don't subscribe to People and don't own a TV (I gather the intelligence I glean mostly from surfing the World Wide Web, and rare interactions with other human beings)...
...has Jenner revealed the sexual side of the woman he now claims to have always been?
Has she pimped to the public the heterosexual sex she's had with men over the years? Does she now push that she's bisexual and has had sex over the years with men and women? Or, does she claim she always been a lesbian...
...ie: what sexuality does Ms. Jenner now claim to possess?
People use Klinfelter syndrome as an example to show how there are variants of XX XY but genetics has little to do with transgenderism. Being trans isn't related to XX XY - that's the whole point.
People have been happy to lap up the image of Jenner being the all-Amercian guy for the last 40 years, but that's all it's been: an image of American blue-eyed amazingness for every young man to look up to. When the facade comes tumbling down, people want something to do with their sense of betrayal, so they say he's cranky, and worse.
If Jenner had been a rock-star, would that have been easier to stomach? Just because he was gifted as an athlete, why should that make any difference? Maybe because the macho-alpha-male is supposed to be a quarterback ace? Whatever
I don't know the mind-set of someone in their 60s, much less someone who has apparently loved the limelight as much as Jenner. I do know she won't face being turned down for employment or refused medical treatment. She won't be beaten up or murdered by a guy horrified to find she has male genitalia ( and incidentally, she's stating asexual for the time being ). But fear of violence, loss of income or rejection by friends and family aren't the things that have any influence on someone coming out as transgender. It's far more personal than that, and no one can really appreciate the need to be acknowledged and recognised for the person you know you are. To be denied that is a crushing, relentless torture. It's difficult for regular people to get their head round so… you're just going to have to take it on trust.
As you've already said, it makes no difference to your life, so why not just shrug it off and leave Jenner be? If you can't be a friend there's no reason to be an enemy.
As for the celebrity Kardashian thing? I think reality tv sucks. I'm not fond of such rank self-publicity, however the silver lining in this case is the publicity itself. Jenner is doing us trans folk a huge favour by making it front page news. The sooner transgenderism is regarded as 'no big deal' can't come soon enough and then you can enjoy being abnormal as normal
