Afternoon all,

Well last night was the first time the heater was used. A foreign concept for those in Qld I know then again so are jumpers for those living north of Brisvegas. So officially the warm weather is officially done for Melbourne town. Time for hot desserts and soup. Love some fresh crusty bread with a hot bowl of soup.

ANZAC Day not all that far away. A time to reflect on what we humans can do to each other. A message that these days that gets lost about who is right. Leadership seems to be defined these days on who can inspire wealth, plus you need to crush any opposition. I was told once that strong leadership is defined on who can dominate others and making the hard decisions. It was interesting that the hard decisions didn't impact those making them.

Hi guys

I spent today hunting for obscure car parts.....some success was had! I managed to find an indicator assembly for the XC, a centre console for same, a pan gasket for the XD, and a spoiler for the XF. I am a happy chikka!
Also got some ultrawhite acrylic, clear coat and chassis black to finish off the paint on the XC.
Plus - Marcos Ambrose signed all 23 models I left at his Dad's business office (Note to self - send Thankyou card tomorrow!)

I know, I know..... I'm a car nut

I managed to shave my head by myself today, and got it completely! First time! I guess it gets easier.....

Now, where did I leave my glass of Merlot.....

Hey WQ

I hope you're not drinking and painting, you may paint the cat/dog instead. You'll need the cat to buff up the paintwork on the car.

I purchased a bottle of Merlot only last week when I went shopping. Once the colder weather blew in I opened it thinking I would only have once glass, then started cooking. Funny how those single full glasses all add up. The bottle was only a 1/4 full by the end of the meal.

A friend of mine mentioned he was also going grocery shopping, however his grocery list usually includes a couple of 6 pks of red wine. He does have one rule though. No wine before 4pm, well he has slowed down since he retired a few years ago. I remember the days when it was ok to have a couple of drinks at lunch then go back to work. Days long gone.

Afternoon all,

A thought for those impacted by the severe weather in Sydney and the Newcastle area. My friends in Sydney have reported that their neighbourhood streets turned into rivers. They had river frontage for a while. I know what's it like to live under a tarped house waiting for repairs with little or no power and rainwater coming in.

Hopefully the bad stuff has either dissipated or eased. Sydney streets are a pain most normal days so it would of been horrific with the deluge.

Melbourne was hit with a major storm a couple of years ago which flooded parts of the city, brought down trees on roads and cars. Plus the added danger of live power lines arching in various neighbourhood streets. PT was a no go for a number of hours.

Just seen off my interstate lover at the airport - he flew down for 2 days of wq time and I'm afraid that painting was all I achieved as a result!
I feel deliciously used

Welcome to all the new people. The thread only stays alive if people continue to drop by and post so don't be shy. I see we have a few more from Melbourne town. Will be interesting to see how the city will change with the new underground railway network. Hopefully Swanston Street doesn't become a ghost town with the proposed elimination of all traffic including trams.

Ah yes the smell of a fresh month and officially the end of my first year of self imposed exile from the workforce. No desire to re-join the throng. Hopefully I won't need to get another job before the pension kicks in.

Been to my last specialist appointment and he stated that I should moisturise to improve my skin condition because of my age. Now I don't know if any of you blokes have been down the shops looking for moisturiser, but there is so much of it, fucking rows of it. And they would put it with the female products. So you can image the scene. Hopefully using the stuff won't lead to an urge to go shoe shopping. Haven't used the stuff I bought yet...I'm building up to it.

Been a nice sunny day here in Melbourne town. Turned into a warm afternoon after a cool start. Hope those in the higher east coast locations find a way to stay dry over the next few days.

I have news!!!
Have been given the (provisional) all-clear from my skin cancer!
No more brachytherapy

I won't get the full clear for some months yet, but this is a great interim result.
Of course - I have been left with a huge bald spot on the top of my head, and even if I try and grow my hair long there is no way I can cover it..... but I've kinda got used to being bald now (plus, I totally rock the look!) So it doesn't bother me too much. Yet.

It helped enormously that my oncologist has been so straight-forward with me......my odds were explained from the outset, and he has been available all the way through. I am fortunate to have one of the very best in the biz.

Good news about your treatment. Well on the positive side think of all the different type of hats, caps and beanies you can now shop for. Keep the hair to a buzz cut or less and the bald spot won't be as noticeable plus you could colour any hair you do grow. I think chocolate and booze are now in order.

I had my last specialist appointment last week which was at a skin specialist mainly dealing in skin cancer, I was there for other reasons. Not totally cured yet but a heck of a lot better. I can now do physical stuff again without issues.

Have a fantastic mother's day, indulge. I reckon you might need a recall from your interstate lover or is that interstate lovers

Handbags:
Now I don't know anything about buying handbags but I'm not sure the word 'handbag' technically applies anymore considering they all seem to be the size of a small cow and need to be carried in the elbow joint of the arm with the hand clenched into a fist. If they get any bigger we will be seeing women dragging handbags on wheels. Bad enough we have people in suits dragging small cases on wheels behind them going to work. Make your fucking mind up...is it a brief case or a suit case? Dodging these people on the street it like playing dodgem cars. PT will soon have to have a luggage trailer like the ones you see attached to those airport shuttles. Don't get me started on carry on luggage on aircraft. Its called carry on luggage not drag on luggage.

Wet weekend in Melbourne town but nothing like those in the north have experienced. Windy stuff...must be all the beans those in west of the country have been consuming.

A handbag is a trully mysterious thing.
Need a safety pin? There"s one in there somewhere.
A rubber band? A sewing kit? A nail file, a hairbrush, a toy to keep the kid amused? Look in the bag.
What about tissues, makeup, deodorant, hand cream, scrunchies, snacks, water bottle, panadol, plasters, pen, notepad, re-useable shopping bags, straws, hand sanitizer, phone, keys and wallet?
Chances are, that handbag has most.....if not all.....of those inside.

And in my case, add phillips and flathead screwdrivers, knife, ipad and spare knickers
