NOT my idea, for once, but I saw this on Reddit and thought it was a brilliant idea for a story, so I thought I'd post it here and see how many different ideas we could come up with, just post any ideas you think of below, and we'll see if we come across anything particularly good!

1) In a desperate bid to help the human race to survive with only a few select males, the men are kidnapped and attached to cock milking machines, or left tied up for women to ride on in order to reproduce.

2) Men are payed high wages to collect their cum and give it to the government, where they apply it through tubes into female prisoners' pussies, perhaps tying the women constantly upside-down to help the cum make its way into their system.

3) Men are worshipped as gods, with women lining up for sex with them, each man living in luxury with tens of women servants looking after him. People, and this is mostly men but not all, like to try and make things better by throwing things at a problem until a solution is found. So say, the number of male children is dropping, which it is but say it is a bigger percentage of female children than we have already. So scientists toss gene therapy at women until they get a better rate of male children.

Which is then added to the water supply, which is a good idea in theory, except men drink the water as well. So now instead of say 6 out of every 10 babies born are male, it is closer to 1 out of every 20 babies that are female. Can reverse that as well so it is mostly female babies.

Imagine if that happened so there is now 1 woman for every 19 guys. If the whole world has an American view on sex, I'd shoot myself because it's that or 19 men a day. Hmmm, let's be kind to you pigs, probably closer to 10 a day. Which is still higher than hookers and they don't enjoy their job.

This could take a while, but I'd like to explain this:

The reason, Carnevil, that we don't see many uneven sex ratios in nature is that animals are SELFISH TOSSERS!

An animal with a gene which promotes male children, one which makes a male produce more Y sperm and a female to not accept X sperm, for example, will end up having a LOT of grandkids, with their male children having a lot of sex and, by extension, kids, with the surplusnif females who can only mate once every 9 months. This means that gene will spread until the sex ratios is harshly unbalanced, by this point, males will be competing over females, and an animal with a gene which promotes female children will have a child which has no trouble having a good amount of kids. This will swing the sex ratio back into the females favour. In reality, the ratio only vanges a percent or so before it pushes back the other way, so sex ratios are generally even. Unless you're in China... Damn OCP.

Sure, it would be beneficial to the species as a whole if there was around 3 females to every male, but each animal is so fundamentally selfish in nature that the only stable sex ratio is (very close to) 50:50.

Despite this, bee colonies give a hearty "Fuck You!" to logic like this, and the different genders in a bee hive are stranger. A male bee has 100% of his mother (queen) bee's genes, and a queen bee has equal amounts of genes from her mother and father (just like us). The queen usually only has sex once in her life and uses the sperm she stores afterwards to fertilise eggs throughout her lifetime.

Indeed -- in THIS universe. So, set the story in an alternate reality with its own consistent rules. Maybe one or more Superior Beings are playing games, manipulating we Lesser Creatures, jiggling our DNA. What cheek! But what else can you expect from Superior Beings?

Now, those Superior Beings needn't be divine or anything. Let's say that some Entities exist who are as far beyond humans as we are beyond ants. Well, are YOU (as a human) an ant god? Have you created any ants lately? Probably not. But you could sure mess with them, manipulate them, with lures and chems and such -- just as this story's Superior Beings muck-around with humans.

So here's a universe where human zygotes are only 1% male. Deal with it.

Not to be Major Buzzkill or anything here, but a world where only 1% of the population were men would likely be much more of a femdom fantasy than an "every man has a mighty harem and is worshiped as a god" fantasy. Women would dominate every sector of endeavour by sheer weight of numbers and would control most of the military. Unless the 1% of remaining men were somehow superhuman or something.

It's really a great recipe for "men as a hunted minority and valuable commodity that a pseudo-Amazon society fights to control" stories. Which would certainly appeal to some people... but that doesn't seem to be what you're going for.

That is a cogent point, though too much force being used against those men could drive them underground and that would be a leverage that along with their scarcity and value would give them some possible say over their future.

Or perhaps the men were clever enough to make themselves....scarce, hide out and become urban legends, myths, until they re-emerged as myths come to life...and start a religion based on worship of them.
