I boxed Golden Gloves in my Army unit for the noblest of reasons (i.e. to get excused from morning fitness runs...I hated running at the time).

I wasn't any good as a boxer (too tall) but I learned how to throw a punch and more importantly how to take a punch. I never knocked anyone out, but I never got knocked out either.

I laugh at the war heroes here who like to regale us with their tough guy exploits.
