In my teens and 20s I drank gallons of coffee, brewed from grinds (is that the right word?) that came in big, square, olive drab cans. And it was good.
In my 30s I drank gallons of drip coffee made from mass marketed grids like Folgers and Max's House. And it was good
In my 40s I turned to Starbucks and other designer coffees so strong it straightened out my pubic hair. And it was good.
Now... in my over 50s, I've resorted to store-brand coffee. I mix half a bag of decaf with half a bag of caffeinated. And it is good.
The one constant through all this coffee drinking has been my cup. My beloved cup. I received this cup in 1981 as part of a military ceremony and it has been all over the world with me and transferred countless gallons of coffee into my mouff.
I mention my cup because it's that time of the year - Cup Cleaning Day!
Once a year The Cup gets a detailed scrubbing, even if it doesn't need it.
Following the cleaning, there will be a reception on the veranda.
