Let me segue off the troubles of our August King...
You're in that getting to know you phase...and the topic turns to music. You realize, tragically, that your new acquaintance/friend/potential lover has a thing for music you HATE (drooling, madness inducing hate).
How will you proceed?
How should you proceed?

< I'm not even that into music tbh...I like what I like and my tastes are eclectic spanning from heavy rock to classical and having a huge segue into crappy pop
I don't care who plays it and I don't care if that makes me uncool
I couldn't even name a single nickelback track because most of the time I don't actually know who's fecking singing>
Over the last few days, I have been doing presentations at a career fair. Boring as shit. Oh man. But that's not my point.
These kids don't know what the fuck they want to do with their lives, but they're in high school and most don't. When did you know what you wanted to "be"? How did your dream of being whatever you wanted to be line up with your actual life?
How can you possibly know about work at high school? The best you can do is apply for jobs in vaguely the right area and then hopefully breaks come along, if you keep your ear to the ground... at least that's my plan.Over the last few days, I have been doing presentations at a career fair. Sometimes, in the course of our Lit lives, IRL pulls us away - what's the proper litiquette for when you're going to be offline for a while? Just vanish? PM a few close friends? Update your profile?

Well, I can't have sweet Mia thinking she's a thread killer, so I've got a general Litiquette question. Here is the scenario.
You're on reading/playing in a thread and someone you know in passing is making an ass of themselves. Do you:
Laugh and carry on, ignoring it?
Jump on it in the thread and crush them (lovingly)?
Send a PM and give them a heads up on how it's coming off?
Some other option?

Whether in real life or here, I don't like to see people embarrassing themselves. It seems mean. I would diplomatically and privately (send PM) tell them. I always appreciate it when someone does that for me -- or tells me I have broccoli in my teeth.

Thank you Paul.
I think "lovingly" is the key here.
I would probably not sent a Pm though ; it seems very interventional to me.
Would try to manage it with humor and get my message through. If not I would mention it later in a conversation.
And with that I can now kill the thread. Again.![]()
Hello Litsters
After a long absence I think I deserve to put a Litiquette-style question, which has probably been asked before...
Has meeting people on Lit and reading posts and stories changed your attitude to sex? For better or for worse?
is that any good?![]()
